ok, will try this .... NOW my next problem (somewhat related) my Android Auto just loaded itself and is taking over my 12" screen... HOW do i uninstall Android Auto?

serv. manager and i covered that little bubble to force the headlights to come on with the engine start, it did nothing .... he went outside to 2 other trks and did the same thing with the same results .. says that is how they all work (does NOT control headlights) .. both of our Gladiators...

i do not use carplay or android auto .. you are right "Its a crapshoot system."

dealer says i have the latest update for my vin. problems include but are not limited to: on startup radio will select FM radio rather than the USB stick that i ALWAYS use & sometimes will not load TomTom nav just leaving it blank, or will sit there and randomly flip thru the MANY setup screens...

it does look like a Leer cap, i had several Leer caps ...turns out the keys are very simple ... only a few lock sets .... went to the garage for inspection and somehow forgot the cap key ... the key to his cap fit my cap lock ... later tried lots of keys for other caps i had over the years ...
