    Upper Midwest Blues

Same in the west. We had no winter to speak of until shortly after I bought my new Limited. Since then we've had endless snowfall and the temperature has hardly been above freezing. No end in sight.

    What octane are we using?

I am an engineer, actually. Octane is strictly a measurement of knock resistance. Engines that use high compression, aggressive timing, and/or forced induction will experience knocking (detonation) with insufficient octane in the fuel. This can severely damage or destroy an engine, which is...

    What octane are we using?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. What I was trying to say is that our engines are designed for 89 octane fuel. Using lower octane will produce less power, but there is no benefit to using an octane higher than 89.

    What octane are we using?

I've seen a thread similar to this on every car forum for every vehicle I've ever owned. Just a few reminders: modern engines have knock sensors, so they'll run on low octane fuel even if they were designed for higher octane. You'll get more power if you use the recommended octane, however...

2019 dependability rankings, Fiat struggles being LAST out of 31 groups

The first time I encountered the JD Power study I was astounded that the highest ranked car had over 100 problems PER 100 VEHICLES! That seemed unbelievable, until you realize a few things about the study. First, none of the problems are verified, they're just survey responses. Second, they...

12.2 MPG after first 1,000 miles

2019 with 5.7L eTorque, 3.92, and crew cab. Just hit 1,000 miles and my average is 16.3, almost all city driving. I never use remote start.

    Parking brake

I had the same issue backing out of my driveway, which is not steep at all. Go into your UConnect settings and disable the auto-braking on backup. Hopefully they'll correct this in a future software upgrade, because that's a useful feature if it works properly, but when it panic-stops backing...
