I am in Alaska. I use 4Auto pretty much all winter long and on wet pavement during summer months. If we have dry pavement I use 2WD. I engage 4High when we get significant snowfall (5 inches or more). 4High works fine as long as the road surface is very slippery, I.e. compacted snow with ice. If...
I would love to see a V8 hemi back in 1500. Better yet, a 6.4 than a 5.7. I’d much rather have a large displacement naturally aspirated engine in a truck than a highly strung small displacement turbocharged engine. Get rid of pointless etorque and the start stop system. It saves absolutely...
I have a 2020 5.7 hemi with 3.92 gearing, blizzaks in stock 18” size. I’m driving about 10 miles in the city each way on my commute, pretty much no highway. Temperature here is about 10-20F. I’m getting about 12-13 mpg. Even my wife’s outback gets around 16-17 mpg in these conditions.
I notice...
During a cold start the clearance between piston rings and cylinder walls is fairly large until the motor gets to proper operating temperature. This is effectively a gap through which the fuel will get into oil in the crankcase. Direct injected gasoline engines are more susceptible to this sine...
Uneven traction can cause this instability even if you drive in 4h or 4a. Tires do play some role, but if there is pure ice, then it won’t really matter if you have Wildpeaks or even dedicated winters.
Also, it seems that 4wd auto is more of a rear biased mode, while 4wd high is supposed to...
Sorry to see this happened to you.
Just Tuesday this week during morning commute there a bull moose running on the shoulder of the highway along with the traffic. Could not see him in the dark with cars ahead of me until he was almost right by my truck. That was scary.
An all-terrain tire even with a 3PSMF symbol will never be as good as a dedicated winter tire. I am in Alaska and run Wildpeaks AT3WA. Apr-Oct, and Blizzak DMV2 Oct-Apr.
I have a 2020 Laramie with 17k miles. Noticed the rear window leak after the rain last week. Ended up just doing the Permatex window sealant fix myself. No leaks so far.
