    Retrofitting the 33 gallon tank

Attached is a sketch of a bracket idea. The second pic provided is the bracket I talk about in the sketch, its a reinforcement bracket that was for older RAM's but I used it because it gives the slot needed to hold that 3rd strap, its not my picture just one I found. But mine did come all...

Yes I’ll sketch something up, I wasn’t getting notifications on this thread anymore so missed the requests. I’ll draw it up tomorrow and post it up.

    Retrofitting the 33 gallon tank

I’ll sketch up what I mean when I have a few mins. You would be bolting the bracket on if you don’t want to weld, but could be done clean.

you could do a third strap with minimal fabrication skills, and no welding if needed

    Retrofitting the 33 gallon tank

I wouldn’t run it with only two straps. The only ones I’ve been seeing having a 33 gallon tank with two straps is the eco diesel tank which I believe is a different shape than the gas. It’s a long distance from the 2nd strap to the end. this is also probably why they released the TSB is because...

    Retrofitting the 33 gallon tank

I finished up my swap last weekend. I added the third strap and had to fabricate a bracket as well. It was a pretty simple swap with the write up Dixit did. Took about 5 hours including test fitting the tank and fabricating the bracket. I didn’t take pictures, but used a a flat bar with a 1”...

    Retrofitting the 33 gallon tank

I have a question. Are all three stud locations in the same line? Reason I ask is they make a recall retrofit tank strap bracket for a bit older ram trucks which would take care of the slotted end on the frame rail. Then I was wondering if all three stud locations are in the same line, could...

S o yea looks like they didn’t add the third strap to support the tank since they didn’t have you buy the extra strap. Tells me you don’t have the mount either

did your truck have the brace already built into the frame for the third fuel strap? That’s been my hang up for not installing mine yet, I don’t have the cross member that is on the frame to mount the last strap so have been waiting for time to figure out a fix.

    Retrofitting the 33 gallon tank

Was going to do mine this weekend and double checked this thread. Went and looked at my truck and it has no bracket either it’s a Laramie sport 4x4 with air ride. I looked up frame part numbers last night and appears it’s a different frame for the 33 gallon tank for both air ride and not and...

    Retrofitting the 33 gallon tank

Great info but bad news for me haha. I ordered all the parts on the list plus the couple we saw yesterday. But I have a 23 gallon tank and now if I have to get the fuel pump and vapor canister is another $450 putting all parts just over $1,000 to do a swap on a 23 gallon tank.

    Retrofitting the 33 gallon tank

Thanks I’ll look more into it. I was just going off the Alfa site and since I didn’t have android I was looking at setups for pc. For $120 or so I’ll definitely go that route
