Anyone getting a 2025 with the I6 Hurricane?

You do realize 3,950 rpm and 4,250 rpm are only 300 apart right? Thats where both V8’s make the peak 410 lb ft of torque… ;) There is a replacement for displacement, its compression ratio! 12:1 can create a lot of twist without cubic inches. The key is to keep it out of detonation, that’s DI’s job.

Anyone getting a 2025 with the I6 Hurricane?

Performance can be worlds apart despite similar peak #’s. The 5.0 is 400 HP/410 LB ft weighing in at 445 pounds, and is backed by the 10R80. 5.7 Hemi is 5 HP less and 50 lbs heavier nearing 500 pounds, and backed by an 8 speed. Looking at the power bands, the 5.0 has a much broader peak power...

Anyone getting a 2025 with the I6 Hurricane?

They could have, but I think the goal for Stellantis was a global powertrain with standardized manufacturing for all their markets. Cost effective on their end, and as a European company they are primarily concerned with European emissions compliance. This engine will service both markets, and...

Anyone getting a 2025 with the I6 Hurricane?

Everyone is using Whipple or Lingenfelter these days, haven’t seen much ProCharger. Lots of factory 800-900 RWHP 5.0 Coyotes with stage 2 whipples on the F-150 boards and 800 HP 6.2’s on GM boards. Ford Performance just released a 2000 HP Coyote block like a month ago. Idk what you’d even do...

    What would you prefer?

Ford introduced Plasma Transfer Wire Arc cylinder liners with the 3rd gen 5.0L V8 engine in the 2018 F-150. While it is harder than cast iron and reduces pumping losses I’d venture to guess it’s a net cost savings (if you exclude initial equipment investment) over time. They had some teething...

    Its been a pleasure

Congrats, I like the 6.2L in the GM. My budget wasn’t as large but I also wanted a powerful V8 when I bought. That pushed me to a 2023 Ford F-150 with the 5.0L V8/10R80. I figured it was a running horse with Ford 5.0 or a dead horse with the Ram 5.7. The Hemi is nice but I didn’t want to get...

    2025 brochure

I just realized I have been calling a parallel hybrid a series hybrid….that likely generated some confusion. Yes, you are correct. The ramcharger is a series hybrid. I was referring to parallel (ICE engine with motor attached), which are the V8 packages Ford and GM are bringing (much like Fords...

    2025 brochure

The RamCharger is intriguing, I am curious to see what they do in the world. As far as need, no need. I’m just an American, and I think as many other Americans do….like a V-8. Options are good.

    2025 brochure

What about how much easier it is to package V-8 to a series hybrid? You can bolt up a much bigger/stronger electric motor to a V-8 powertrain than an I-6 due to length of packaging. A V-8 can also run leaner AFR’s, meaning with E-Assist will likely pollute less than a forced induction 6 cylinder...

    2025 brochure

I must say the Hurricane perplexes me. I ended up buying a 2023 F-150 with the 5.0L V8, but I follow all the brands. I am simply a reader once in a while here. I must say I am perplexed at Stellantis’ decision to can the 5.7 Hemi in its entirety. The 3.0 Hurricanes I have seen in the Wagoneers...

Ram Pulls The Covers Off Of The Updated 2025 Ram 1500

The 2024 Ford F-150 Tremor comes with the 5.0L V8 putting out 400 HP/410 LB FT. It also has dual exhaust, they sound quite good. Also offers a front Torsen as an option. So both GM and Ford have a V8 off roader on offer.

Ram Pulls The Covers Off Of The Updated 2025 Ram 1500

You’ll still be able to get a V8 with GM and Ford. GM will be bringing a brand new V8 to the trucks and SUV’s with hybrid additions soon as they’ve stated. Ford just released the 4th generation of the 5.0L V8 in the Mustang with 500 naturally aspirated horsepower, so any attempt by the Hurricane...

    Ford 5.0 VS Dodge 5.7

Older thread but here is a torque overlay of the Ford 5.0 vs Ram 5.7 based on the manufacturers crankshaft curve plots. The 5.0 is a modern/advanced engine and is now on its 4th generation for 2021+, utilizing a 12:1 compression ratio, dual PFDI fuel injection, and Ti-VCT (twin independent...
