They are clear coated. I've been doing wheel restoration for a while and have refinished my wheels which are the exact same as yours. They paint the inserts,machine the aluminum, and then it all gets a good coat of clear. Which makes blacking em out and clearing it all a cinch.
Nope, no raised edge. Really very easy to mask if ur patient. And when I removed the masking you can wipe off and straighten the lines with just a little thinner on the edge of a towel.
Thx bro. Appreciate that. These inserts weren't the worse I've ever masked. They dont have real hard corners so some fine line blue tape, what I used, just rolled around the edges nice and clean. I scuffed it all first, then masked the inserts, painted the black and removed the masking and...
Got one more thing done over the weekend. Painted the aluminum on my rims gloss black. Left the gray inserts because there the same color as my truck. Love the look. I know ya dont have to tell me.... the black lugs are on order
Planning on leveling the rear but no not yet. Just looks that way with the trailer attached
Planning on dropping 2in in the future. Just checking off the boxes to get to that point
I havnt seen one around like mine yet. And to be sure, I color matched my badging and gloss blacked my running boards. Really happy with it. Only thing left is black out the alloy on my rims. Everytime I look at it I find something else to do. Just love making it my own
Been doin it on mine since 50 miles, and still at 919. A bunch of threads on this subject. Many say there is goin to be a software update coming that should fix that. I was goin to take it to the dealer just to make sure I make them aware. Be nice if someone has gotten it fixed. Havnt heard...
