I pulled a friends passenger side shaft and they ran the truck without it for a while as we waited on the parts from amazon and there was no issue...but the passenger side stub is affixed into the axle and can't come out on its own. The drivers side is just held in with a retainer clip. Yes that...
The rebuild kit with the stub shafts I had to get off amazon because they don't seem to be regular stock at parts stores, the CV I bought was found at an Autozone, nothing special about them, should be pretty common to find.
Drivers side is just a tiny stub that goes into the pumpkin and is made to be removed easy enough (unlike the passenger side that is more labor intensive). There is a seal around that stub that helps hold the fluid in, the kit I linked above has the replacement seals if yours leaks. I think it's...
Hey everyone, sorry the notifications didn't work on this thread for some reason.
Here's an amazon.com link for the shaft kit I used: Amazon.com: Flynsu Front Differential Axle Intermediate Shaft Kit Replacement for 2012-2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Inner Shaft 68146594AB, 68146594AA, 68257420AF...
Can anyone post a picture or a name/identifier for this socket everyone is talking about above? When i clicked the Amazon link it switches me to Amazon US (I'm in canada) and then just defaults to the main Amazon page so I can't see what the tool is you're all using. It's either because I'm...
I think you just had bad luck as well, the rear diffs are not known to be problematic in these trucks. You did however buy the truck used and there is a recommended break-in procedure for the rear diff (especially around not towing until it's broken in, letting it cool down every X number of...
Sorry to dig this one up from the dead but I have a related question. I've got some KO2's on my 2019 Ram 1500 4wd and they are probably 1\2 to 2\3rds of the way through their life. Over the last year or two I've noticed a sound in my truck that appears to be from the front drivers side...but...
This is the one design flaw I've found in these trucks where I can unequivocally say Ram dropped the ball hard. The CV axle is slid onto that passenger side output shaft with no assembly grease, and no boot to seal the joint. The drivers side is done similary but easier to fix. That passenger...
So i have a 2019 "new style" ram 1500 big horn with the 4hi/4lo/4auto transfer case. I'm assuming i would be the 44-11 borg Warner? I'm trying to source NON dealer fluid right now. They just quoted me 97$ per quarter and I just can't in good conscience pay that.
OK I just finished this job now. What a process. A couple notes I can think of off hand:
1) The white plastic faceplate has a silver allen screw in it. I don't believe you need to remove it, it seems like it acts as a pressure bushing for the electric motor that turns the worm gear.
2) My face...
I popped this code last week, cleared it, and it came back. I disconnected the harness to the AD and it didn't return. I pulled the assy out and sure enough my seals are absolutely wrecked looking. New synthetic seals on order now and the AD is in my shop waiting for their arrival. Thanks so...
