Just to close this out. After contact Stellantis Customer Care on 2/18, the dealer received a new MGU on the 27th and I got it installed today. About 1.5 hours labor total. The dealer also updated the dash display software and the 12" display software (a nice touch). So about 5 weeks from when I...
Read back through this thread for details. If it's the MGU, you are in the same boat as many of us with a non-drivable truck and no replacement parts available.
Great info and thanks very much for sharing. After about a month of starting to hear some bearing whine, my MGU is now dead with no charging at all. So I'm probably past just a simple bearing replacement and I've got a dead $60k truck.
FWIW, I came across a reddit post showing the bearings as...
I was told the same thing - but mine has now died with no battery charging. And I'm in a tough spot for self-service as we have about 3 feet of snow on the ground now with temps below freezing for the next couple of weeks.
My understanding is that the 3.6 and 5.7 engines have a different MGU. Not confirmed, but I've seen the following part numbers:
V6: 68452771AB
V8: 68623194AB
Also, it does appear that the electronics for the MGU are sandwiched on top of the alternator, so if the bearing noise is from those...
Has anyone actually pulled a dead MGU apart to identify what these bearings are that are failing? I've replaced a fair number of bearings in my life and it's not rocket science. Maybe there's a solution to service the mechanicals? I'm still driving my RAM so I'm not in position to pull it apart...
I was at the dealer yesterday for this issue and was told 5,000 are on order across the country. No official ETA but the service manager told me 1-2 months was likely. See my post in another thread for more info
Just another data point for anyone else dealing with this - 2021 Laramie 1500 5.7 e-torque w/41,000. Bearing noise started a few hundred miles ago. Took it to the dealer today and they confirmed it's the MGU.
Service manager told me there are none available in the U.S. and approximately 5,000...
I like the combo of the Quad cab and the longer bed. Looks right, east to load longer lumber, and parking isn't an issue. The only question is back seat room enough for the size of kids. Might try taking them along to jump in the rear seats of a Quad cab. It's honestly a decent amount of room.
I have a '21 white Night Edition w/ORP (Laramie) and I'm very pleased with the look. Had to get black lugnuts and put some black plasti dip on the bolts for the Back Rack I installed, but I think the look is perfect. And in New England, not only does white not show the dirt too badly, it doesn't...
Try this - worked for me. Send in an inquiry via email to a couple of dealers via their websites. I had one respond back with a $1000 off digital coupon which wasn't dealer specific. I ended up using it to purchase my Laramie and the dealer I purchased from happily accepted it. Can't hurt to try...
