Update on the latest…no leaks found at any of the spots listed here…bone dry and still no clue as to where the smell is coming from
Back to the drawing board and attention to the radiator overflow reservoir maybe…
Good call on all of these…ultimately, very poor job of design and engineering given that vehicle mfg 101 is to keep the outside…outside. That was figured out Model T version 3 or 4…. And I’m guessing Henry Ford didn’t tell his customers that shelled out that days equivalent of $57K…”you’re out...
Ended up at 3 different places today in Pensacola…dealership and 2 body shop and trim places…the service manager said it’s definitely mildew smell and we pulled up the driverside carpet and you could feel the wet juke stuff under the carpet…but this dealership doesn’t do any water intrusion...
I have smelled around the carpet…I don’t think it’s the water under there even though it was leaking The back glass and 3rd break light are now sealed as well so no more water will be getting in…it’s not a mold or mildew smell…it’s a burnt smell
Curious to know how things turn out… I seemed to remember having my heated seat on high when I first noticed the smell and wondered if the plastic was melting underneath my seat…it’s a very specific smell…like burnt plastic carmel with a little cat **** mixed in
Do you have a pic showing this? I don’t see anything but I also don’t have a sunroof…is there still a drain for water that comes from the top and down the doors? Still have a nasty smell that seems to be worse right around the driver side
Another update…just got off the phone with my case specialist with customer service…because I refused to be hijacked by the dealership to replace the 3rd brakelight for $1400, I can take it to another dealership for a 2nd (3rd actually) opinion…and pay yet another diagnostic fee…again, they...
I said this on another post about the odor in the cab, leaking frame and brake light, etc. how are any of us responsible for paying for this garbage? Why are we doing insurance claims and fighting with warranty and service advisors over a known issue on a POS vehicle? I have a barely a 3yr...
Sounds like the same issue…here’s the rub though…who in their right mind thinks we should be paying for any of this garbage?! I don’t care what the TSB says what model year is covered, or whether I bought an extended warranty…you made a POS vehicle with obvious problems that are well...
Update on my situation…dealer had my truck for 3 days…did their own diagnostic test because they couldn’t count on another dealership’s assessment…same as before, no coolant leak after pressure test. Then they pulled up the TSB about the back glass and 3rd brake light leaking and determined...
Mark,
How many of us are going to post on here about this problem before something gets done? These trucks are clearly having issues with an acrid, burning coolant type smell being described by dozens of people and all the same responses from dealers, including the 2 I have been to and am at...
Sitting at the dealership now waiting on a diagnostic test to be done so they can send a report to the Recall team at Chrysler customer service…same issue as described in this post and others…burnt, nasty smell that started a few weeks ago almost overnight…2022 Big Horn with barely $50K miles...
