Your so right, life is short, and getting shorter. Under the right circumstances, I would get back into a 2018 CTD and put it on a diet. Once you live the diesel life, it's hard to be humble with a gas truck. I like my 5.7, but it's not a CTD.
I would think the 351-893HD would fit the bill. I'm running the Air Lyft 1000hd bags with 10ply tires and a weight distribution Hitch, and my truck handles our 26' travel trailer great with the factory springs. Our travel trailer has around 600lbs of tongue weight.
