So you want to tow a camper! Discussion thread.

You are right and thanks to many things I learned from this thread I have been very particular about picking out our next rig. A bigger fiver with pin weight where I need to be, based on payload, is requiring a careful search. I'm getting there.

True and good points. I don't commute (haven't for years) so that is something I don't consider. Like I said, I was talking about my towing experience. Also, my 1500 was mostly just fine and if we weren't going to a bigger trailer I would still have it.

So you want to tow a camper! Discussion thread.

Did a 900 mile pulling my current rig (TT @7500#) with the 2500 diesel and it was absolutely night and day. Tow/Haul on and cruise set at 75 (in Texas) it was like towing nothing, not a downshift and 5 mpg better. We're looking at a 5er this wknd for our "final solution". Not trying to rain on...

So you want to tow a camper! Discussion thread.

The dry is 6380, GVWR is 8200. My tow spec is max GVWR of 8350, so I'm nearly maxed out but I never tow with liquids (water, grey and black tanks), don't boondock (at my age I've done all of that I want to do) so with my odds and ends I figure I'm at low to mid 7K, well under my max. I really...

Did that (no disrespect) of course and the numbers are right where I'm figuring where I want to be. Very good note to have the link for the Ram towing spec. I used it extensively deciding on my upgrade.

True that. We're just a couple and I'm figuring a fiver upgrade with hitch weight will still be good for the two of us with our 8 lb. dog. Lots of room in the trailer to store the stuff we currently haul in the truck. Other considerations of course include $$$. My expectation is that I will have...

So you want to tow a camper! Discussion thread.

After almost a year on this thread, drinking from the firehose, I'm upgrading to a 2500. Lots of factors, mostly better towing experience with my current rig and expectation of moving to a fiver next year. Giving up lots of creature comforts in the Laramie but that's life, tradeoffs. Result...

So you want to tow a camper! Discussion thread.

I think I've posted this pic before but in the thick of the towing, arriving, unhooking battle I don't remember to take a pic (usually 95+ and a long day). After about a year, over 4K miles, my towing comments are: Even with my 3.21, e2-Fastway WDH (which is GREAT) I tow at 60-65 and get 8-10...

I'm very interested in your "after" ride comfort. I have Timbrens and it's great when I tow but the rest of the time, not too happy.

    Switching Gearing on 2019 Limited

Well maybe I need to sue FMC. I don't spend $70K on a truck to hand calculate the mileage !

    Switching Gearing on 2019 Limited

Something isn't right. I have a 19 Laramie, 5.7, 3.21 level 2 everything but Rambox, surround camera, air bags and etorque, and I get 22-24+ mpg long-trip highway miles (75 mph-85 in west Texas) . My '16 5.7 with 3.92 got 20+ in the same conditions.

    Sirus XM favorite artist/song alert

Awesome. That worked. It's still more trouble than it needs to be while driving in traffic but something is better than nothing. Why not just leave the notice at the top, at least until another notice comes up? I couldn't find anything in the manual about it. Oh well, Thanks!

    Sirus XM favorite artist/song alert

I've seen that but I have no idea what it is for. Does that notify that a favorite is available?
