Exactly. I happened to see something vague about the DT Ram having the (then) strongest frame structure, but again: nothing to be found again. Supposedly, the gen4 Ram had one of the weakest frame structures in the industry. Yet again, hearsay and nothing definite.

Yes. I saw that. I am, however, mostly referring to the actual constructional strength. I wonder, if there is a definite difference, such as front crash and roll over scenario. Safety features such as lots of electronic helpers, as good as they can be, make up for a good deal of the results.

My rims easily scratch whenever I habe to park very close to the side walk. Are the Toyos better ag protecting the rims than oem tires?

Which Toyos are these? My Goodyear OEM are scary in rain snd snow. What about road noise?

Why does the rear dif make strange noise on wet roads on intersection turns in 4wd auto? My outback, my A4 and the last three A6s did not do that...

I wonder why other folks are having rear dif related breakdowns with their Gen5 1500s...

I do have an e-locker. The Ram cannot be driven with the same carelessness as my Audis could.

Thank you for the interesting articles and your replies. If I do keep my truck in 4WD Auto om wet surface for example, it will make that whining noise and almost lock the rear wheels when turning. (Depending on the angle) If I keep it in 2WD, the rear end will slip/over steer during turns on...

What about keeping the truck in 4WD Auto all the time? + my 2017 had no sound on dry surfaces in 4WD High... is there a difference to Gen5?

Here is an update to the story: They say that according to the user manual, the rear dif will always lock in 4WD HIGH. Therefore, the sound is normal on dry surfaces, as 4WD is not intended to be used on loose surfaces only. Therefore the "brake" when turning all the way. Can anybody confirm or...

Brought it back to the workshop yesterday. The person in charge did a test drive with me. No sound, no locked rear wheels.... until I put it into 4WD High mode. Sound came right in the first light turns at low speeds. When making a 60° - 90° turn, such as into their drive way or into an angled...

Update: had it towed to a local dealer. They say that roughly 2 litres of oil were missing in the rear dif. Picked it up today, still hear the sound but no locked rear wheels. I have got the feeling that this issue has not been solved, but the expensive solution postponed to later... Maybe it...

I have to talk to the third party warranty supplier. Rear wheels fully lock when I turn all the way. No more driving possible.
