I had the dealer tighten down the driver side cab bolts. I thought this had fixed my problem, but the last few days, I've noticed the creaking again. Its very frustrating. When its cold it creaks and when its hot it clunks.
Take it in and have them re-torque the cab bolts on the driver side. I have the clunk that a lot of others are experiencing and the tech tightened my cab bolts and the noise got much better. I did hear a little creak this morning but nothing like it was before the re-torque.
I think you're on to something here. My truck has been at the dealer for 15 days now because I have the clunk and the parts are on back order. However, I went in last week because the tech couldn't hear the creaking only the loud clunk. He had tightened down the cab bolts before i got there and...
I dropped it off this morning as i have two other issues (glove box light wont turn off and a clunk when i turn). I guess its probably the column. I just want it fixed!! I'll update you once i get it back. Thanks for the help!
Update... It was pretty cold here in Colorado yesterday morning and the noise seems worse. I was headed to the gym and noticed every time I turned right, the noise was amplified. I'm now 75% certain this is coming from the steering rack. Check it out-
Wow! Good work. I checked my brake and it makes the same noise, however, i'm not sure where exactly its coming from. If you get it nailed down, please let me know. I'm definitely going to take it back to the dealer and have them fix it.
