Lower Control Arm Replacement

Now you have me wondering...I did all the cross-referencing I could think of when I ordered my TTX upper and lowers and that is what I came up with, so I ordered and extra set. Maybe I need to pull the truck apart here one of these weekends and check
Yeah, crazy that I can't find a ball joint for a 5th gen anywhere on the interwebs. Report back if you find anything out, I will do the same. Seems silly to replace the entire LCA everytime.

OEM doesn't allow simple replacement I believe. I know the upper can't be replaced OEM. Have to replace full UCA.

Correct, OEM ball joints are not replaceable which is why I got Mevotech when my OEM wote out. I didn't know Mevotech would be so greedy and make you buy the whole LCA again instead of just the ball joint.

I would try reaching out to them and asking. I had to do that before with Bilstein for parts. This way you'll have confirmation. I'm swapping in the TTX Lowers as well soon, but I'm adding a lift when I do.

I did, that's how I discovered this little Easter Egg.

Good morning Cheyenne,

Thank you for reaching out to us. The ball joint on control arm CTXMS251267 is not replaceable. It is recommended to replace the entire component should a dust seal be compromised as any length of time in service with a damaged boot exponentially reduces the overall useful service life of the part, therefore we recommend reaching out to your initial point of purchase to have this part replaced.

Well that's pathetic!!

I guess sometimes we have to learn the hard way.

I am certainly going to try the 4th gen ball joint before I purchase a whole new lca. I'm almost positive they can be pressed out.

Looking at my schedule it probably wont be as soon as I would like :(, but since we have a race in Maryland coming up I probably need to take a sick day or two from work.

Hey there. Did you ever get a chance to see if the 4th gen lower ball joint would press into the mevotech ttx lower control arms? Currently going though the same hassle. And naturally I lost my receipt to take advantage of the life time warrenty. Ugh.

If I had to guess they look the exact same. But dimensions are everything. I might just give it a go.

Has anyone replaced their lower control arms yet? I'm curious how long this project may take and if it's worth doing myself without access to a lift. I plan to install the Mevotech lowers because they are half the price of OEM and prob better quality.
My lower ball joints have play in them already at 36k 😡 which is the reason for
At 36k miles, shouldn't you still be within the warranty period?

Email mevotech and ask the part number.

Do they not list 5th gen bj?

Got mine from rockauto so receipts are digital.

I just read that. Pisses me if, that’s why I bought theirs, I thought it was.
Likewise. I ordered a new set of lower control arms. When I have the bad ones out I will measure and source some ball joints. Let you all know if I figure something out. I'm willing to bet the 4th Gen's will press in.

Also mevotech told me they have lifetime warrenty. So if you do have your receipts, your good. I unfortunately lost mine. It was right around when I had my third child and life got hectic.

Eh where did you buy it from. Maybe they can help you out.
