I’m looking to trade in my 21 big horn for a trx. Only thing is I’ve never been a fan of the trophy truck look. I don’t go off-roading. I just want a truck that can do 0 to 60 in 4 seconds. I know the axles are 3 inches wider on each side when compared to regular 1500s, so it’s not as if I could just swap out the fenders with normal ones. I want the trx to look exactly how my truck looks now. With 305/45/22 tires. Does anyone happen to know if it would be reasonably possible to put normal size axles and suspension on a trx without having to significantly modify the rest of the drive train? Ideally just the standard 4x4 with the airbag suspension off of a 5.7. I know most people tend to go the other way and try to turn there trucks into Trx’s. And I’m not interested in tuning or putting a supercharger in my truck, I would like to keep the engine and transmission stock from the factory to avoid needing repairs. I want everything stock from the factory on the engine and transmission so I can keep my warranty for 100k and not have to worry about breaking down since I use the truck as my daily driver.IMG_0587.png

Dude, buy the TRX. The regular 1500 is no comparison to the TRX.
It handles completely different and I don't just mean when you hit the go pedal. There is no body roll, it's like your on rails. Frame is boxed and heavier, 3 link on the rear, huge shocks, multi driving modes. put it in sport if you want to **** your pants.
It is a super truck and you will not regret it.
Make sure you put IGLA on it if you want to keep it around.
It is more than just body panels. I love mine.

If your wanting the horse power do full bolt ons and tune and switch your gear ratio or simply a trans tune

Or go forced induction with engine build.

another one of those things that just make one goes "...why." TRX is different underneath, from axle, suspension, drivetrain, all the important parts. all the mounting points are different and require custom fab work. by the look of what you're looking to accomplish, it does seem like you don't have the skills or knowledge necessary for these types of projects, so you will be paying custom work rate at fab shops.
another way to go around this ridiculous attempt to be "unique" is to drop a SRT crate engine in your current truck. but again, that requires extensive mechanical knowledge and skill which I doubt you have (deduced from your fixation on warranty), I don't think that is for you too.

dude, if you wanna go fast and not go offroad, get a hellcat Challenger or Charger. the amount of money you gonna dump into pulling this mickey mouse "build," is gonna cost identical to buying a hellcat but will come with proper brakes, suspension, tires, and handling that save you from wrapping yourself around a tree. and you save more money that way too.

Dude! I don’t disagree, but OP didn’t come on here to get flamed, he came on here for help . Ultimately I know that’s what you are trying to do, but dam… indicting his entire skill base and his vision in a single reply is rough man.

Any problem can be solved with enough money.

But you’d spend way more “streeting out” a TRX than you’d spend Modding a 1500, by the time you account for swapping the fenders and other body work. And you’d murder a TRX’s resale on top of it, and I still wouldnt be super confident from a reliability standpoint having swapped I weaker-spec axles.

So from a financial standpoint, I think money is better spent on a Procharger and some street suspension for your 1500, or even a Hellcat Swap would be cheaper or at least a draw.

Or… if you just got the TRX I’ve seen some people paint to match the fender flares and other various bits and it helped to reduce the brodozer look.

im just trying to save him some money and wrapping himself around a tree lol
if he wants to do street driving and go fast, a street car is the logical choice since it is designed for it with the brakes, chassis, tires, etc. A truck is not designed to go fast street driving unless he also upgrades brakes, chassis, suspension, arms, and the whole 9 yards.

from my experience with my friends who try to do some questionable things, flaming is the only way to get them to stop. i don't sugarcoat things just to make things sound "nice" lol and if with all the flaming and the guy still goes for it... then that's on him but i've yet to see any positive results.
in fact, i just wrapped up a project for a kid who got the entire baja design catalogue thrown on his quarter million mile mitsubishi montero that doesn't even run right. guy had previously tried to do everything himself but everything was done completely wrong. but dude's got daddy's money and he's determined to spend over triple the car's worth on lights and double the car's worth for me to wire things in despite me flaming him he's doing it on the wrong car with a bunch of unnecessary stuff. no joke, every time he shows up i flame him and told him that's not the right way but he's determined despite his dad agreeing 100% with what i say. what can i say, some people got more $$ than sense.

trust, anyone who would want to tackle a project of this scale... warranty is the least of their concerns.

Just do a search on his name and read how he talks to other members. The guy has to have major insecurities the way he talks down to people. It reminds me of those kids playing modern warfare.

You start swapping axles and suspension and your warranty is already out the window. You'd be better off doing a Hellcat swap on your 1500 than trying to turn a TRX into a regular 1500 look. And if you pay the right shop, they will warranty their work.

i only talk down to people when warranted.
example: doing mickey mouse things like OP's trying to do or running spacers for lift kits like you do. you never see me talk down to people who do things properly using proper parts, like running King, Fox, Carli, Thuren, Bilstein, Baja Designs, Switch Pros, KC, Diode, white knuckle, etc. I compliment people who do things the right way using proper parts, and I offer technical and factual information instead of hyping up people when they do wrong things.

guess i pinched a nerve on your 46 years old soul a while back in one of the suspension threads and live rent free in your head.

No

No its not warranted, you're just being a troll and need to stop.

yes it is. and nope not interested.
anyways, hopefully i saved OP some money. between the questionable "build plan" and someone running spacers complaining, that's enough time spent on this. unfollowing this mickey mouse madness.

Why not an F150 XL? Tons of dealers and companies offering packages for those bad mfers and they look a hell of a lot more "sleeper" than a TRX... Not to mention, faster (or can be).

I think a TRX is a bit much for what you want. Look into those coyote sleeper F150s and I bet you'll be impressed, especially with the pricing and ability to customize.

Also, eff the (new) Raptors. Gaudy ahh looking trucks.

Cause this is a RAM forum, and he wants a ram.

It's a suggestion. Which is more than most folks have done in this thread.

Even a non tuned NA Coyote is a beast and easily more of a sleeper than a TRX.

Are you sure? I had a 2018 F150 with the Coyote. It was new and bone stock and that truck was slower than a friend's bone stock 2.7L F150. I was so disappointed in that 2018 that I got rid of it after 6 months. I bought the V8 because I wanted the sound and performance the V8 provides, and I also had a 2017 Mustang GT, so I know what the Coyote was capable of. The truck was slow and very disappointing. The Ram 5.7 is so much better in the performance and sound area when in the truck.

Your 2018 is not the same truck as the new ones everyone is turning into drag trucks. Which is also why I mentioned the many performance centers and dealerships offering packages turning XL's into straight sleeper beasts that crush every other truck on the market currently. For the price of a TRX, you can get one hell of a sleeper F150. I think that's the point people are missing with my mentioning of the F150's at all here. Just check out what Cleetus is running on his numerous F150's and all the videos of him and like minded folks dragging them. They are nothing to scoff at and not the same as a bone stock 4 door with all the options and added weight. The keyword here was sleeper. A TRX isn't sleeping at all lol, it's a very obvious monster.

Either way, this thread is probably dead. OP made the initial post and hasn't been back since due to some ridiculous flaming.

I knew exactly what you meant and its not a bad option to consider. Midnight performance, Houston street monsters and Velocity racing started with the F150 4x4's and they are ridiculous fast.

I mean the same could be done with Rams if you could find a dealer foolish enough to warranty a drivetrain with aftermarket mods they install. Because I can pretty much guarantee Ford isn't going to pay for warranty work on the engine/trans of those trucks being sold.

Oh but it is.

Not on any truck with a supercharger exactly.
But rather any truck with Ford’s own supercharger retains full factory warranty.

That’s a Whipple running a conservative ford-engineered tune and installed by a ford Dealer.

It’s not a dealer warranty or a whipple warranty, it’s a Ford warranty all the same.

But I haven’t heard much about issues with folks supercharging Coyotes, either on their own or through Ford Performance. The Coyote is stout.

And so I have hopes that the Hemi comes back similarly, with all forged internals and dual injection. Then it will be a candidate for any material amount of boost, like the 6.2 was.
