According to the Ramtrucks site, a 1500 Limited with 3.92 rear end can tow 11030 lbs and has a payload of 1490 lbs. Even with my wife and 2 labs in it it looks like plenty of overhead with a 6000 or even 7000 pound trailer if I do all the smart things like WDS and sway control hitch.

You will want to get the exact payload from the truck you want to buy. My Rebel only has 1425lbs of payload.

Exactly this. Those charts are good for getting a ball park number but the actual payload varies from truck to truck based on the exact options that truck has.

Your doing the right thing by checking out the numbers. If your trailer is light enough a limited will be fine.

The bottom line is know and understand your numbers, which your doing.

What options are you looking to add? All of them will get you closer to GVWR. I recommend going to dealer sites or Autotrader and finding a truck that's as close to what you'd build as you can get. Grab the VIN and plug it in here:

Ram Towing Lookup

I pulled a random VIN for a 23 Limited, and payload was 1120 lbs. I've seen Limiteds below 1k lbs of payload. This is why we ended up with a Laramie instead. We started out with a smaller trailer, but thought we might end up moving up, and we did.

We have 1481 lbs of payload. Our trailer is 5850 dry, but closer to 7400 lbs loaded. With my wife, me, two dogs, and loaded up we're right at GVWR.

If we were doing it again, knowing we'd want to tow our current trailer, I'd have just started in an HD truck. That said, we're full time. Our current setup would be great if we were only towing occasionally, but no way I'd want to be in a loaded Limited with a trailer this size.

Yes of course but we’re talking relatively small differences and my plan is to stay well below he limits by 20 or 30%

You may be surprised. Same goes for tongue weights. As mentioned above they always advertise the dry weight, not even battery or propane tank.

My 2022 Limited's payload is 1060 FROM THE FACTORY.
I have a heavy retractable tonneau cover and a bunch of other stuff added on. I haven't gotten it weighed but I bet my payload is closer to 700-800lbs if i'm lucky.

There is a Flynn's truck stop near me and I would be willing to get it weighed but I wouldn't even know what to ask.
I see where it says "there is a Fairbanks Scale next to the Garage. Call (508) 753-9698 to give your information and pick up your weigh ticket at the fuel desk." but i'm not sure if it's just for 18 wheelers and would be like wtf when I showed up.

Here's a picture I just took of my door sticker

You can see my trucks build sheet here for what came OEM to get that payload number

Very similar to what I’m looking at minus rambox and some appearance stuff.

What do you think of it? Happy with the purchase?

This is the build I’m looking at.

First, you chose the right color.

Skipping the BUG, ORG, and panoramic roof will save you some weight. I'd bet you're getting close to 1400 lbs payload with that build.

Only miss was the panoramic sunroof. 🍻

I also skipped the 33 gallon tank, but I don't have a daily commute.
I have one now (came standard on the R/T). Can’t use it in Texas most of the year anyway because it’s either too hot or raining and even just opening the shade lets in so much sun that you’ll bake in your car with the AC running.

Had one in my previous SUV too. Same story with that one except it also rattled and leaked,

So I was happy to se it was optional.

Ceramic tint goes a long way, but if you don't use it you don't use it.

I'll say that for me, after driving through some of the national parks and staying on BLM land out west, I'll never have another vehicle without one.

Mine is going on the market soon. Less than $60K, have a 3/4 ton on order for a fifth wheel. I have 1400 lbs of payload on my limited. It's been awesome, but we are going to take advantage of the tumbling camper market and snatch up a good deal on new camper.

Do a very thorough walk through. Quality is not what it used to be at any price level on RV's.
