speedometer calibration ?????

what product can i use right out of the box?? rough country says it needs to be updated with a windows computer i do not have a windows system so what options do i have???

If that is all you are doing, dealer $150 they rebuild the BCM data too if necessary so it will not interfere with parking sensors. I know a lot of people like to go aftermarket, but it's pretty reasonable really.

I am having 34" tires put on my truck, I asked them to calibrate the speedo, they said no problem it's $150. I have seen the same price quoted elsewhere in this forum. I think it opens some kind of work order/ticket. It is good for 6 weeks. That is so you can't come back next year and ask them to do a different size without paying again. I would just call your local service department and ask. My local one would not do it when I asked but the one I am getting the truck from was all over it. So you might have to call around a little. As far as having the body control module updated I also heard about that in this forum as well. I guess some DIY attempts don't work so well with the sensors, like the Tazer if the tire size is too much. Best to find a dealer that knows what they are doing to, because a 35" tire is not really a 35" tire when it rolls, its more like 34.4". I am not an expert by any means but $150 for a properly calibrated truck seems like a good idea, and other forum members have said the same. Check this out.
The "approved" method to change the tire size and have park sense work is to buy an option code from the dealer that is uploaded to your vin. Then the WiTech 2 is used to rebuild your BCM config for the change to take place. MSRP is $150 to have this done.

Found this too. Helps explain the $150
So ditched the truck and just gave it back to them and got a 2021 limited with normal size tires. But for others who have issues here is what I found.
Ram updated the software this year and it messes with aftermarket tuners. It was tuned with the Hyper tech, but as mentioned broke the parking sense. They found out the dealer had to pay corporate Ram $100 to unlock the ability to adjust tire size with their own flash instead of the Hyper tech. They told me this is basically all a cash grab by corporate. So that is what I was told.
I decided not worth the hassle of having future issues and maybe running into that issue again with any repairs or computer updates. That pissed me off and I then looked into other possible issues. The dealer also has free lifetime limited warranty on power train. They was invalid with lifted trucks and not applicable. So I just moved into the 2021 limited with e torque and off road package. Forget all the tires and lift.

So just had this done today...It broke my park sense also just like my Alpha OBD did so no benefit and out $125 plus tax. Said they will call Chrysler again to see if it can be fixed on their side and rebuild the BCM config again. If they can't fix it, I will be asking for a refund. At least the speedo is correct now lol.

When you said it broke the park sense, what are the symptoms, and what size tires are you running?

35's which is around 2684mm...In AlphaOBD...anything over 2557mm, disables park sense. Original size waas 2532mm.

I just purchased new tires through my dealer on the Ram buy 3 get one for $1 deal two days ago. 285/60/20 BFG KO2. Everything went great - dealer said they would do the speedo recalibration at their regular shop rate, cost depending how long it took. Estimated $150.- no mention of a contract. When I got to the dealer to pick up the truck they told me they did not recalibrate the speedo because when they attempted to their programming system showed nothing for this sized tire - only if tires were 35 inches or more. These tires are 33.5 so they did nothing. I'm not terribly concerned about the speed difference, more so transmission shift points and that kind of thing. I've only driven it for a day, about 50 miles, since but haven't noticed any issues yet. Have others had this response from dealers? FYI I have 2 Ram dealers locally. I had previously gotten tire pricing from the other, and that one said they can't do the speedo recalibration at all, encouraged me to purchase my own software tool. :(

I am running 35x12.50r20's and had the dealer flash my speedo yesterday for $125. Everything is working great. I did a test on the way there. At 40mph I was in 5th gear @ 1900 rpm. After the flash at 40mph I was in 6th gear @ 1300 rpm. They actually measured the tires, which are close to 34 and used the actual size. Just my 2 cents.

Yes i called several and they all said it was undoable so what do i need to show them???

I have been able to find the 2018-004 bulletin but not the 2019-28. See attached
Found this video as well which shows how they "purchase" the file needed for you RAM

Unfortunately it is an internal "Dealer Connect" document.
Thanks for the info Ramchaser. My truck is at the dealer now - trying to track down some bothersome rattling noises. I shared this info with the service advisor. Still getting same response - they aren't able to do all tire sizes. It's looking like I may need to go the Alpha OBD route. Honestly I am nervous about doing any "reprogramming" outside of the dealer. It's basically a computer and computers and I don't always have a good relationship.

Great post! I had 275/65 R20 General Grabber ATX tires installed by dealer today. These are a couple of inches taller than stock on my 1500 with the ORP. I asked for speedo recalibration when I got the quote, and dropped it off. Dealer said OK. Today they called and said it was done. I asked about the recalibration and they told me to get an aftermarket device and do it myself. I told them that I read it can be done and provided the document number listed above. They called back and said they could do it and it was an extra $150 bucks. Again, thanks for the help, gentlemen. Hopefully saves me some issues in the future.

I went back to my dealer with the info from Ramchaser. They still couldn't get it done. Another ram dealer in my area said straight up nope. Buy a decide to do it yourself. There's another dealer a little further away. Guess I'll call them. But seriously thinking about alpha OBD and doing it myself. Might be able to get my tailgate ajar warning working too. Dealer said my truck doesn't have it. Certain months in 2019 didn't get it? We'll see.

Tazer works on Jeeps. Tazer DT should work on a Ram. Easy Peasey.
