The 2021 Ford F-150 Police Responder pickup hits the beat this fall

The 2021 Ford F-150 Police Responder goes on sale this fall as the only pursuit-rated pickup. The four-door model is equipped with several law enforcement-specific features.

"The F-150 Police Responder will be available in a four-door, SuperCrew configuration powered by a 400 hp 3.5-liter. Its four-wheel-drive system has a full-time Auto setting that can be used on all surfaces and the truck comes standard with the F-150's FX4 off-road package, which includes an upgraded suspension and underbody protection. Interior features include heavy-duty upholstery and steel intrusion plates on the backs of the front seats that can stop knives and other sharp objects.
The trucks can be ordered without a center console to allow for department-specific equipment installation or with a factory setup that incorporates a work surface.
Ford says the aluminum-bodied truck has a 2,030-pound payload capacity and a standard tow rating of 7,000 pounds that can be increased to 11,200 pounds with a towing package that includes a knob-controlled backup assist feature.
All of the Big Three automakers offer police versions of their pickups, but the F-150 is currently the only pursuit-rated model."

They make a 4th gen 1500 police package. Don't see a 5th gen yet.

Yeah, they are 4th gen based. I see quite a few of them in my neck of the woods. The local sheriff's department has quite a few of them.
 
Thanks for responding. I see tons of Chargers here in NC but never a pickup.
 
Never seen the truck - but 1 thing is certain...if Ford finds a market willing to overpay for “factory” upfitted police vehicles...everyone else will follow.
 
Yea...not starting a political thing here....current president or last admin - doesn’t matter. Local governments have managed to find things they suddenly “need” courtesy of COVID - that seemingly have nothing to do with the disease (but they are seeking funds for them using that excuse).

New cruisers, SxS, weapons - you name it - every department now is stressing their need - knowing COVID funding would foot the bill.

Some here work for the Gov, serving honorably...nobody’s perfect, but you have zero clue as to how careful we have to be spending tax dollars. The biggest cost overruns are at the DoD...

And, we could afford to give millionaires and billion $ corporations a tax cut, but we can’t spent money on the pandemic recovery or the rest of the country? At least we’ve finally got our heads out of the sand.

I just saw a 4th gen sheriff's truck the other day coming out of the BWCAW. We were celebrating the end of another great trip sitting on the tailgate with a beer when they rolled up to ask us if we'd seen a loaded handgun laying around. Apparently some idiot had his gun in an open coat pocket and threw it on a snownbank only to realize a few hours later when he got home that it was missing. Seems the bar for how many brain cells it takes to get a permit to carry is pretty low! Anyways the Sheriff was driving a 4th gen with ramboxes.

Yea I don't have a clue. 22 yrs military and 20 years state. No idea how anything is done with government. Ha ha.🤔🤣
 
A ton of my local sheriffs and police departments have trucks. I'd say about half and half mix of f150s and 4th gen ram 1500s. Our DMV Commercial units roll 2500hd silverados with hard fiberglass tonneaus. Couple sheriffs have the 2500 rams also.
 
As others have said, it's only 4th gen that has the law enforcement trim. Closest 5th gen would be the Tradesman. With that said, here is the specs for the 2021 Ram 1500 "Special Service Vehicle".

I’ve seen a couple around here . The first time I seen it I had to do a triple take because I didn’t know it was even a thing .
 
I've scene a few around but I don't believe the Ram's are pursuit rated like the new Fords.
