straight to the points:

  • Only supports Android v9, v10 was released 9/2019
  • Only supports flash drives up to 64GB, formatted FAT32, this is out dated by 5 years
  • Supports mp3 only, again, 5 years ago
  • No browsing over Bluetooth, that's AVCRP v1.3 again from 2015
  • Will not allow you to use vehicle GPS when using Android Auto.
These are an embarrassment for a seemingly tech forward offering with a 12 inch screen. If high tech is a must have, may want to keep shopping.

I’ve been using a 128 gig stick for over 4 months, and there’s way more than 70’gigs of music on it
Can’t say anything about file format - I assume I’m only using mp3 but I can’t confirm

I am here on my own accord MannyHen.

Le_Slacker, If it addresses more, it is by chance only. I confirmed the support direct from Uconnect. My Music library is 128GB of MP3 and 50 something GB of Lossless flac and it is truncated on the Uconnect. I could do the math, but simply by the alphabet it gets 10 of the 26 letters by artist.

And so you know, I am a legit brand new owner with something to say after following the Mopar channels. If honesty and solid research isn't welcome here, I won't bother.

Get an iPhone. ;)

With that said, Uconnect has gotten better, my 07 C&C with Uconnect, would only work with phone, as a phone only, not even an aux jack. I knew buying my 2019, it was going to have Uconnect, bought it anyway. It works great with my iPhone 8.

If you think the uconnect is outdated, you should go sit in a Toyota or a Nissan...

Ha, al

Ha, almost all Android phones are running v10, thats the point....
And almost all android phones work just fine on the factory uconnect. My Pixel 3 works as advertised with both bluetooth and android auto.

I mean... It works. And it mostly works better than the other systems.
I don't see people complaining having BT v9 and not v10...

What's the difference, BTW?

Typically a manufacturer only states support for the version they tested with. If newer versions of Android, lets say for arguments sake, Android 11 breaks the phone-Uconnect interface then Uconnect will find the issue, write a patch and push an OTA update. This is industry standard.
  • Only supports flash drives up to 64GB, formatted FAT32, this is out dated by 5 years
Again, typically a manufacturer only states support for the version they tested with. Apparently that was 64g. I havent tested it yet but the USB will likely support at least 500gb if not 1TB. It has more to do with the maximum capacity of the standard. Have you verified that your flash memory is genuine and not counterfeit?

As far as FAT32, that too is pretty standard for the industry. How does that limit your use?

I don't doubt you but I'll test some other formats, I've only had the 12" Uconnect for 3 weeks.

  • No browsing over Bluetooth, that's AVCRP v1.3 again from 2015
Browse what, the Uconnect Disk? Why would any OEM allow that? I haven't tried it yet but can you not see Artists and albums and songs on your flash media?

  • Will not allow you to use vehicle GPS when using Android Auto.
So write them an email with a feature request, if they get enough people requesting that they may implement it.

Just to answer your last question - All of my data + album art work just fine when reading from my thumb drive. I don't use it typically but it's there if I want it.

Yeh my phone is a note10+ of which is fully updated and it works fine. Plus I use a micro sd card that's a 512G in a usb c dongle and it's well over half full of several different formats and it works fine. And I can use the trucks nav while android auto is running.

Something I found pretty cool over the weekend. I can use carplay on two iphones simultaneously. There was some interference that I need to figure out but I was using apple maps navigation on mine and my wife was playing music through hers.

You had me all freaking out because I just took an Android V10 update on my phone yesterday morning. It's a Motorola G7 Play that I bought in 2019. Just went out to my truck to test it out and boy was a surprised. Not only does it work, it works better. Before the update, I had to log into the phone to get android auto to come up once I plugged it in. Now it fires right up even when the phone is asleep. It's also faster and more responsive to my voice commands.

There might be some incompatibilities out there with some phones/mfgs, but i've certainly proven it's not incompatible with V10 alone. I'm happy as a pig in ****.

True, you can often get more than the published specs and the published specs are in deed what they have tested. I sound like a broken record, but this is exactly the point... Do the testing, and publish support for current devices.

I have a legitimate 256GB flash drive from a reputable name brand. I have 122GB of MP3 content, that the Uconnect will only see about half of, and it will not play FLAC files. I didn't come up with this on my own, I had a long conversation with Uconnect and Mopar on these topics.

BT browsing is so you can find a playlist, album or whatever you want to listen to from the Uconnect rather than picking up your phone. It's safer and many other vendors allow it.

'works fine' is not the point. please share your recipe (brands models etc.) for you 512 solution - have have tried more than one and it does not see all the content, every time. I would also like to know the other formats, as Uconnect themselves says they only support MP3. you can USE the trucks Nav, but you can not split screen it while using Android Auto.
