Crew Cab length and garages

My townhome has a garage, it's about 237.5 inches long. I read online that the Ram crew cab is 232.9 inches long. However after adjusting for the garage door hinges and whatnot I have about 235 inches of usable space. Has or does anyone park their truck in the garage with little room for error. It gives me 2.1 inches of wiggle room.
Is the truck actually that length? Any ideas or responses/insights would be greatly appreciated.

When my truck is in, I have about 2 inches left in the rear and maybe 4 in the front with the door shut (I could come up with about another 10 inches if I moved something). Backing into the garage, I know to go real slow and 80% of the time I'm going to get the emergency braking to kick in...then creep a little more after that.

Use a string or other visual clue, as the warning sensors will drive you nuts if you leave them on. I put some foam in front (I used a pool snake cut in half) as I park mine in a garage/barn with a partition-- the truck "just fits" into to the space, and I don't want to scuff the front. You'll need approx 1/2-1" for the rear door movement/flex, if your door is like mine. The short answer is "it will fit" but you'll need to set up the garage. 232.9 is the correct number.

The pool snake cut in half is genius! I've been debating cutting into the drywall and seeing what back there. Just to get an extra couple of inches where the front or rear bumper will go. Also, didnt even think about the wobble from the garage closing. I'll have to remeasure. I mean I could leave it in front, but some jerk tried to steal my camaro when I parked it there with a new camaro key. Go figure, a key that hasn't been cut yet, just walk right it. Its infuriating and now I'm insecure about modern keys. But if need be I'll park out front and see if my HOA will allow me to put a security camera up.

I test drove to my house with the salesman and we made sure it fit fine. I have more than enough room, though. I'd suggest you do the same if this could be a deciding factor in purchasing. You don't want to find out if won't fit AFTER you place the order (or buy off the lot)!

Mine barely fits, and I closed the door on the bumper yesterday. Did quite a lot of damage.

I squeeze mine plus a durango into a 2 car garage. I have to back it in and put the bumper about an inch off the back wall, and go in on and angle and straighten it out to tuck my passenger side mirror an inch off the wall. I have about 2" from the front bumper to the inside of the garage door. Make sure your brake assist isnt on.

How about the "golf ball-on-a-string" trick? Either head-in or back-in with the help of a spotter, to get the truck right where you want it. Then hang a golf ball (or a tennis ball) on a string from the ceiling so that it just touches either the windshield (if you park head-in) or the back window (if you back in). Then you just ease the vehicle until the window just touches the golf/tennis ball and you're good.

Although it's considerably harder to see, we actually bought the laser-pointer accessory from Chamberlain (manufacturer of our garage door opener) that mounts on the garage ceiling, so nothing hanging down in your way like a golf ball. Again, you'd pull the truck in with the assistance of a spotter, then you aim the laser dot (a small, flashing red dot on ours) so that it strikes a place on the dash or the hood or the top of the tailgate or wherever, and you ease the vehicle in until that particular spot intersects the laser dot. A very clean solution, but as I said, that small red flashing dot is difficult to see on a black dashboard. When I'm backing in, I hold up a piece of paper (usually a piece of mail as I pick up our mail from a PO box) above the dash, then it's easy to see the red dot. Another disadvantage of the laser dot is that if you're even slightly off side-to-side, the dot can get lost in a fold of the dashboard or hits a speaker grille, and you back in too far. If you have a light-colored truck, I'd suggest aiming the laser dot onto the hood, close to the back edge of the hood, so you have a clear line to gauge your position by. Maybe there is another electronic solution that works as well as the garage-door-opener laser pointer but is easier to see (like a parking sensor mounted to the wall of the garage and it lights an LED at a specific, adjustable range). Or just use the cheap golf/tennis ball on a string until you find a cleaner, high-tech solution you like and can trust.

Today's garages are definitely larger than ours, but our house (3-bedroom raised-foundation, average home) was built in 1960. A 2019 Ram 1500 Crew Cab with 5'7" bed fits with two inches to spare (total). With the 6'4" bed, I'd have a construction project on my hands. I'd prefer the 6'4" bed, but domestic harmony precludes that option.

Mine is plenty big (24' x 36') but I have a partition in it that allows me to put my tractor, zero turn and side x side on the other side. I made a HUGE mistake going with 8' x 8' doors in the front. The ROPS on my tractor just clears the front--rubbing the weatherstrip. The backside has 9' x 9' and is much easier to get stuff in and out. I'm glad I have electric folding mirrors. Before moving on the farm we had a 3 door, five car garage that was 34' deep. My wife used to say, "We bought a garage with an attached house."

When I sold my 2012 Ram, the buyer (a co-worker) test drove it to see if it would fit in his garage. Like others have posted, his garage is only 20' long (237 "usable" inches) and the truck barely fits. The mirrors must be folded to get in (trailer package mirrors).

It sucks, when I bought my house I had a mustang and the wife had an edge. Length of garage wasn't a concern, and it said the garage was 20' long.
Found out it is not 20' long when I bought a screw Raptor years ago. The truck at 232" would not fit. The ****ing garage door support braces stick out 8" from the actual door.

Once I get smaller braces this truck will fit.

This is all really good info. When I had a condo I did the ball on a string thing and parked slightly angled and the garage clipped my rear bumper of my old Durango... so I dont trust that solution anymore. But, it could be argued it was user error.
My town home has a bigger 2 car garage (side by side) but I'm not sure if parking at an angle would give more useable space or not since there is only an extra two inches of clearance. Itll be the only vehicle in there.
Yeah SoCal garages are super small. Most trucks I see are in the street. Someone has a 2019 Ram Laramie, that I want to talk too but not sure who's it is. Maybe he squeezed it in or was just a friend of a resident cause I only see it sometimes. I'm jealous if he thought of a garage solution.
The only other solution that comes to mind is putting a slight ramp for the tires to sit on so its angled vertically. Not sure how many inches itll save but could be worth its weight in gold.

Mine fits fine lengthwise with about two or three inches to spare.
My main concern was height though, as these trucks sit pretty high (specially the 4x4s), and I barely clear the top of the shark fin to the bottom of my garage door with about 3/4" to spare in normal ride height. I had my wife and kids spotting the roof of the truck the first time I put it in. It was nerve wrecking

6'-6" door? I recently added 7' to the length of my garage and went from a 6'-6" to a 7'-0" door height, so I should be good to go.

6-7” actually, and my truck is 6’-61/4” high, so it fits but just barely.

My garage is actually a 3 car garage but I want to park it in the single bay, which has a 94" opening (plenty of depth, so that is not an issue). It looks like the crew cab is 83" wide without mirrors. I'm wondering/hoping if the mirrors are folded in if the truck will fit (I did not order trailer mirrors, so they electrically fold in)? Thanks in advance for anyone that might be able to help!

Yes, the Limited without Trailer tow mirrors will allow for power fold in.
