So this Friday I am taking delivery of my 2020 limited black. Did see one on the road today, and it sure looked nice, Friday, plz come soon..

As far i understand the oem tonnaeu-cover is not that great, so i have started looking for a replacement.
i did like my pace-edwards i had on my prev truck, but the casette stole some space from the bed..

So is there an consensus about the best tonnaeu-cover for the Ram, 5,7 bed?

ps. English is not my native tounge so please disregard the spelling, and i read tons of threads here, but that did not make me settle for anything..

There are a lot of options out there and one is not necessarily better than another. Depends what your preferences are, cost, roll up vs. fold, paint match etc. I personally have been very happy with my Lomax but there are lots of great covers.

I second the Lomax. I have the "black urethane" version and it looks/works great. If you don't mind losing a foot of your truck bed something like the GatorTrax seems pretty nice, but I bought the truck for the bed so I didn't want to lose any space.

I've got the standard RAM trifold and I'm happy with it except for the attempt by the stealership to charge me $300 to install it (should have been free and it only too,k me five minutes and no tools to do myself).

I think thats the one that comes from the factory on mine also, i will try and take a closer look in person, they all seem really nice in photos..maybe oem is good enough?

As far as a great roll-up cover... I have had great luck with multiple covers made by Truxedo. Not so much with the Access Lorado I had on my last truck. I'll be getting the Truxedo ProX15 for my Limited.

There are countless opinions on what people like the best. You just need to decide what's most important to you, then find one that meets that criteria. Things to consider just off the top of my head:
  • Cost? You can spend $200 to $1500 for off-the-shelf ones, and more for color matched ones.
  • Material? Soft vinyl, hard plastic/ABS/vinyl, hybrid materials, aluminum, steel.
  • Load bearing? Does it need to hold any weight for sitting, standing, loads, etc?
  • Type?
    • Tri-folds - very popular but there are hundreds of different brands, materials, and design features
    • Roll-up (hard) - expensive but secure and minimal blockage of visibility; can be expensive.
    • Roll-up (soft) - probably one of the cheapest options if security isn't a big concern
    • Sliding - very slick but the roll-in canister takes up some space at the front of your bed
    • Front-hinged - the traditional style, secure, lockable, but they limit vertical usable space in the bed and are not easy to remove
  • How often do you need to remove it? If a lot, consider one with an easy-removal design. Lots of the tri-folds have this.
  • Are you okay with one folding up against your back window? If so, the Bakflips are pretty popular, but there are a few other brands that do this.
  • Color? Body-matched are nice but expensive. Most are black but you can get other colors, though usually more expensive.
  • Security? If your tailgate locks, does this secure your cargo? Or can someone easily cut, pry, or break into the bed via the cover?
  • Profile? The vinyl tri-folds and rollups have a bit higher profile than, say, a Lomax or Bakflip. This may or may not be important to you.
  • Resistance to scratches, dents, or other aesthetic damage? Hard, matte- or flat-painted aluminum can be more prone to these problems, while other materials are more resistant to it.
For me, the most important things were low-profile design, security, maximum use of the bed space, general appearance, and resistance to dents, dings, and scratches. For these reasons, I went with the Bakflip G2 because it folds up to the cab and it resists scratches and dents because it has a textured aluminum skin around a solid core. Snaps shut with a reassuring latching sound on each section, as do several others. There are numerous others I could've gone with that would've worked just as well.

There are more aspects to consider than one might think, as you clearly stated :) A big thank you for taking your time and i am already thinking about this in a new way.
As i said in my op i did have a Pace-Edwards, hard, sliding cover, much like yours i think, i did love it but it stole some space from the bed, but then again, this might be worth it? My former truck was not a full-size pickup but the casette/box did take up just as much space..which did have an impact on an already small bed..
The problem now is that i have a 200ltr fuel-tank that i use to fuel up my heavy equipment on-site with, But i bought one with low profile and it goes under any cover, and with a forklift i can easily lift it of the bed if needed.
I think i will take a look at the Bakflip G2 and Pace-Edwards once again.

Is it possible to use the Mopar bed utility rails with the G2?

I'm really liking my Truxedo Sentry CT. It is hard roll-up and is aluminum bonded to a convertible top type fabric. I didn't want anything that would show dents or scratches or get really hot to the touch in summer. I also wanted to be able to lay a shotgun on it without worrying about scratching the finish of the gun.

Not sure if the bed utility rails interfere. Mine doesn't have those but I'm sure someone here knows.

I think it's very similar to the G2, but the next step up. A bit heavier duty and a longer warranty, latches are bit heavier duty too, if memory serves. I didn't need anything that heavy so I went with the less expensive option.

Depends what you mean by that. If you're talking about the "cargo rails" that mount above the top of the bed sides, then it will indeed interfere with most of the cover systems. If you're talking about the "utility rails" that mount to the holes on the inside of the bed sides, then it definitey is not a problem with the Ram trifold cover and I don't see how it is likely an issue in most of the other options.

I just ordered the Peragon cover. I’ll have it next week. Overly excited. I’ve watched all the videos read all the reviews and I THINK this maybe the one for me. My only concern is figuring out how to seal it for water leaks.
