New rebel owner questions

Hello all, finally pulled the trigger and got myself a 2019 ram rebel with the level 1 equipment group and towing package and have a few questions to guys who have owned one for a while. Currently at 400 miles on odometer. 1) the advertised fuel economy is 15 cityand 21 hwy. I can’t get anywhere near that. I’m maxed at 15.5. Could this be just because the truck is breaking in? It also feels extremely stiff like it won’t really coast or cruise. Once again just part of the break in? And finally it’s my first Hemi so when I was trying to do some research on the fuel economy I discovered you’re supposed to use 89 octane(dealer failed to mention this). I put In 87, any suggestions to make sure I do as little damage as possible with my fuel mix up?

I'm around 7,300 miles and I only use 87 octane gas. I get around 17-19 mpg, and I always drive with MDS off. Only real engine type mod I've done is full Carven catback exhaust. I do keep the E-Torque on unless I'm in a stop-n-go traffic jam.

Check the threads; a few people are seeing low eTorque fuel economy. Out of these, a few had some TSB's performed and are seeing good improvement.

87 is fine. The 89 is recommended. I've used 87, 89, and 91 and havent noticed any difference in performance or heard pinging with the lower octane. Use what works for you.

Mine has about 2,300 miles on it. Drive about 80 miles round trip for work and fill up with 87. I average about 15.5-16 mpg. Figure thats not bad given the wheel/tire setup. They tried to push the whole it gets 17mpg average at the dealer. But I knew going into it that it would be lower then that.

I’m non etorque and I’m constistanly getting 15.4 per tank. 3500+ miles

My non etorque Rebel has 2300 miles but only delivering 11-14 mpg. Is there a certain mileage point that seemed to show "break in" achieved with improved mileage numbers? I did install Magnaflow cat back recently but no apparent difference in mileage (but great sound) How do you shut off mds? The +- buttons?

Technical Service Bulletin. It's what FCA calls their field service reports. The "update" refers to having one of he modules in the vehicle flashed.

I haven’t seen much improvement yet after 4 days since the updates. I’m getting around 14 MPG average between Highway and City combined.
Not sure how long it takes to see results. I’d like to get to at least a 17 MPG Average.

I am getting 15.5 MPG city driving, lots of hills with my new 2019 Ram Rebel 5.7 E Torque. I am only at 320 miles and my dealer verified that my truck has all its updates. My truck is a mid August build and I just topped the tank off with 89 octane Top Tier fuel.

I've got 700 miles on it now and am averaging 16 mostly highway. no difference in anything with the 89 octane

I’m not sure how to tell if it’s up to date or not but they updated mine at the dealership

I've got around 5K on mine and if I don't go over 65MPH I can get around 19-20 on the highway and around 17 in town.

Not even at the 500km break in for hwy driving

I would not say you "need" to unless your truck is misbehaving.

If you're asking if someone other than the dealer can do a TSB... no.

I recently purchased my Rebel and have put almost 8k miles on it. I am very pleased with the truck overall. I do however have complaints and questions that I hope haven't been covered to many times before. I tried the filter but must admit to being slower than most with regards to that sort of thing (Me Caveman, ugha ugga ugga). The front of my rebel has some paint flaws on the matted portions. The main issue is with the skid plate looking part of the front end. It sorta resembles a skid plate but I doubt that is what it is. It appears to have water spots or some sort of chemical stain. The FCA said that they have had complaints and the only thing they could do was have it replaced. I walked the dealership and all the new rebels were doing the same thing. So why replace it when it will just look like crap in a few weeks? Anyone else have this issue or am I being duped by my dealer?

Second, I purchased the pedal commander and will be getting a Air grabber hood or similar along wit a cat back exhaust upgrade. My question is with the intake side of things. With what I want to do, does anyone have comments about a spacer and possibly a different throttle body (85mm or 90mm)? I want MPG's for the daily and then the ability to giggle at some of the tuners around me!
