Hello everyone,

First I would like to say I'm new to the forum and all answers are welcome. Today I was driving my 19 Ram 1500 Hemi with 3.92 gears and the Anti Spin Diff. I was at a stop light and was getting ready to pass somebody when I noticed my rpms were at 6,000 rpm. I floored it from the light but I accidentally put the gear limit to first gear, probably not even thinking pressed it. I'm very scared because I baby my truck and to think something broke on it has me terrified. My paranoia has me thinking Im hearing noises and that the truck feels sluggish but then again I'm probably just overthinking it. Anyone know rev limit/ when damage occurs? Thanks.

The truck hes a rev limiter, and a redline, and they are two different things.

There's no way you over-revved your motor, and if you did, the damage would be apparent to more than just your paranoia.
Yeah no youre right, I didnt hit the rev limiter it seemed like, it just stayed at 6,000 which is probably the redline. I appreciate the advice man thanks.

Thanks guys for the advice. I think in the scheme of things I was being a little over dramatic because I baby the hell out of my truck, seeing that was just a little unnerving. But I've seen these motors take a beating and theyre fine. Im just being over-dramatic. I appreciate the quick replies. Everyone have a good day and thanks a bunch!

I mis-typed what I meant before. There's no redline, and the tach goes to 7k. No idea where the limiter is, but you'd know if you hit it, and I'm pretty sure the truck would force an upshift before that anyway.

Guess the rings will seat now... I baby mine too much, probably will have excessive oil consumption and a carboned up engine by next year. I did get up to 35 mph downhill today though...
Lol I hope that wasnt a @me, I baby my truck like a old lady I know

I got ya man, yeah I've had it in the gear selector mode in 1st before and it shifts to second, not sure what happened today. Probably a glitch.

Did the same thing in my 13 express. just the 5 speed or 6 speed however you want to argue that part.
Now on mine I was driving spirited lets say. Messing around with the select shift and hammered it from a stop light and hit the shift up button but the truck was slow to react or I didnt hit it hard enough either way the truck fell flat on its face bouncing off the rev limiter and I immediately braked and put it back in non select mode. Truck was fine but I too was paranoid. No problems just a oops moment. Not really similar but on my 19 I have now I jumped out into traffic using the good ole hemi power and the 8 speed which I love btw and I swear that the truck bounced off the rev limiter and it scared me but once again just paranoid. So no worries. Enjoy the truck.

It wouldn't be good for a new engine with say 10 miles on it, but it would not "blow" the engine or damage it.

I've done the same in my R/T multiple times -- 1 - why did the engine just cut out .. 2 - why do the RPMs sound so high? .. CRAP! 1st gear!

Your engine will cut out before it overrevs :)
