Anyone put LED bolts on the grill or anywhere else on from end? I was looking at it tonight and it looks like a real challenge. Not much room to work behind the grill.

Post pics of your work....

Before I go through the whole project of actually running the wiring, what are you thoughts?

I think I'm going to order a slightly different color though. They are a bit too blue/cool. The company makes a neutral color. You can get these on Amazon as well.

Lights are small bolt style LEDs.

I need to figure out a way to mount them in grill. I've got a plan but need to find the proper material. Just want to make a small block/wedge out of rubber or Black plastic. Then use 3m mounting tape to secure to the grill. Should work well.

Hahny... Will post pics this weekend when I can get daylight photos. Looks great.

This took way longer than it should have!

It's hard working around that grill. No room on the back side.

This looks great. Did you go with the 1W or 3W option? I'd like to do something like this to run day and night on the road (like the Raptor 3 LED's). Would that be the 1W option?

1W neutral are the ones I used. They are about a perfect match to the headlights. The 1W is just enough to see in day but not be too bright at night. Accent instead of light output.

It's tricky running the wires but take your time and it'll work. Pulling the grill would be the best but I didn't know how do worked around things.

I did four white lights so it wasn't quite such a raptor knock off.

While I applaud your tenacity to get this done and wired up, it’s just not something I can get behind. I often find myself chuckling at the XLT’s that up-badge themselves to be more raptor like.. I just can’t bring myself to do that to the RAM.

Extra points for realizing what would have been the bigger mistake if you’d put orange/Amber in there and going out of your way not to do that!

Now those demon eyes on a tailgate emblem I saw in another thread.. that should be your next project!

I debated for a while to do it. Started just to see what it looked like and ended up liking it. Funny how we all find things we like or don't like. That's what makes the truck hobby fun. FWIW I've had a number of comments on the lights. None negative... And one from my daughter's teammate that said "your dad's truck is so dope!". Lol.

How did you mount them on the grill?

I fashioned a small wedge/block out of black plastic with a miter saw and sander. Drilled a hole in it to house the LED light bolt and then just used adhesive (two sided decal tape from 3M) on the top and bottom, and then pushed the assembly in between the slats on the grill.

This way if I ever remove them, I've done nothing to grill in terms of modifications.

Attached is a picture. Sorry for the bad lighting. Was in a dark parking garage and it rained yesterday so my truck is dirty.

I'm loving this. I don't think up-badging at all. I love that it's inexpensive and not-permanent and looks cool as hell.

One more question: Did you simply wire these to the accessory stud on the fuse box? Or did you wire an inline switch? And/or did you do a more proper install using a relay?

Thanks,
Leif

I used the ACC slot in the fuse panel. Turns on with the ignition. No switch. I had the stuff to make it work with the idea of coming back to the relay option but haven't gotten around to it. Too many other things (stereo... rebuilding my box for a second 10" sub) have been taking my spare time.

If you go the relay route, let us know how it goes and the way you did it. Would help others (me) save time.
