Our friends at Real Fast Fotography happen to catch this 2020 Ram 5500 Crew Cab Chassis Cab doing some testing. It is the first time we have actually seen the 5th generation Ram 5500.
This 10-lug beast, appears to be undergoing testing by Cummins. If you look closely at the shot of the front end, you can point out that the new grille insert styling goes hand in hand with the all-new Ram 1500. This truck still carries more of the hardcore “big-rig” styling compared to its little brother, the Ram 1500.
New LED headlamps can be seen on this model. It appears that the LED headlamps are very different from the ones found on the all-new 2019 Ram 1500. These lamps have the LED headlamp bulbs on top of the housing, while it appears to be a LED signature lights in the middle of the housing, while turn signals adorn the bottom of the housing.
We believe this to be a Laramie model, for the fact of the LED headlamp option, grille trim and chrome 10-lug wheels.
We did catch a 2020 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab a while back which appeared to be a Limited model. It had the same trim inside the grille as the new 2019 Ram 1500 Limited models and appeared to different headlights than this model, which were similar to the Ram 1500 Limited with a slimmer profile. However, those headlamps were shaped differently.
The new Ram 5500 Chassis Cab should make its debut sometime after the Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty trucks appear in January at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
