What Is Underneath The 2025 Ram 1500 REV Electric Pickup?
Here Is A Look Of What The Ram 1500 REV Chassis Looks Like...
In April, Ram made waves by unveiling the groundbreaking 2025 Ram 1500 REV, an all-electric pickup, at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). With its remarkable range and performance capabilities, this electrified Ram model aims to shatter any doubts about electric vehicles (EVs).
At the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit this week, attendees were treated to another glimpse of the Ram 1500 REV, with its rolling chassis displayed alongside, offering a tantalizing peek at the cutting-edge technology beneath its sleek exterior.
The Ram 1500 REV is constructed on the STLA Frame architecture, a purpose-built evolution of the current Ram DT architecture. This high-strength steel frame is lightweight and incredibly durable, meticulously designed with electrification in mind. Its wider midsection efficiently houses the battery pack while providing essential protection from the frame rails.
Ram will provide customers with two battery pack options. The standard 168-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack promises an impressive range of up to 350 miles, setting a new benchmark for electric pickups. An optional 229-kWh large battery pack is available for those seeking an even greater range, targeting an unparalleled 500 miles. Both packs can add up to 110 miles of range in just 10 minutes with 800-volt DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, ensuring quick, convenient, and hassle-free recharging, provided you have access to a capable fast charger.
The 1500 REV boasts vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-home, and vehicle-grid bi-directional charging capabilities. It can power a home during outages, electrify tailgate parties, or provide energy at campsites and job sites. An onboard power panel in the bed delivers up to 7.2 kW, while an available power panel in the frunk offers up to 3.6 kW.
One of the standout features of the Ram 1500 REV is its integration of advanced technology. Dual 250-kilowatt (kW) electric drive modules (EDMs) combine the motor, gearbox, and inverter to deliver all-wheel-drive (AWD) capability. The front axle features a 250-kW EDM with an automatic wheel-end disconnect for enhanced efficiency, while the rear axle boasts a 250-kW EDM with an electronic-locking rear differential.
The Ram 1500 REV also showcases a multi-link independent rear suspension complemented by a standard, segment-exclusive, active-level, four-corner air suspension with adaptive damping. This adjustable air suspension offers five distinct modes (Entry/Exit, Aero, Normal, Off-Road 1, and Off-Road 2).
The 2025 Ram 1500 REV doesn’t just offer an impressive range; it also packs a serious punch in terms of power and performance. With a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds, 654 horsepower, and a staggering 620 lb.-ft. of torque, this electric marvel rivals its gas-powered counterparts. Whether fording up to 24 inches of water or towing up to 14,000 pounds, the 1500 REV demonstrates that electric power can be just as robust as traditional engines.
While pushing the boundaries of technology, the Ram 1500 REV doesn’t compromise on style. With 8-lug wheel options and a choice between 18-inch, 20-inch, and 22-inch wheels, drivers can customize their REV to reflect their unique tastes.
The 2025 Ram 1500 REV represents a monumental leap forward in the world of electric vehicles. With impressive range options, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional performance, it challenges misconceptions about EVs and sets a new standard for electric pickups. With its launch slated for the fourth quarter of 2024, the Ram 1500 REV is poised to make waves in the automotive industry and has Ram hoping that it will be enough to sway those on the fence about EVs.
