It’s been a week since Ram official gave us a peek at what the future beholds for the Ram 1500. As the industry moves to electrification, so will Ram’s half-ton offering. The 2025 Ram 1500 REV battery-electric vehicle (BEV) updates the fifth-generation Ram 1500 with an updated STLA Frame architecture (an evolution of the current DT architecture), new front and rear styling, and an updated interior. But while some of the changes are obvious, Ram has refused to go in-depth into details about its upcoming electric pickup. At least for the time being.
However, after some clever studying of images that Ram has released, we are learning more about the upcoming Ram 1500 REV.
Power Management –
The picture above gives us a ton of information about the new Ram 1500 REV’s power management systems. After seeing the Revolution BEV Concept, many people wondered if the production truck would feature a similar system to Ford’s ‘Intelligent Backup Power’, and the answer is YES!
On the Uconnect touchscreen we see three different power management system options:
- VEHICLE TO DEVICES – Power devices and equipment using outlets found in the frunk and the rear bed of the box (both located on the driver’s side of the vehicle)
- VEHICLE TO HOME – Allows the owner to use the vehicle as a generator to power their home
- VEHICLE TO VEHICLE – Allows the vehicle to recharge another electric vehicle (EV)
Larger Uconnect Screen –
While the Uconnect screen is larger, we can see that the overall layout is very similar. The emergency lights and autonomous driving controls have been moved to the banks of switches to the side of the screen (to help make way for the larger display).
We also see that the toggle switches below the screen that contains functions like the Trailer Brake Control gain, Trailer Steering Button, Parking Sensors, and Air Suspension settings have been deleted, in favor, of digital ones on the screen. The Trailer Steering Control switch is still at the bottom of the screen but appears smaller and closer to the driver. The Trailer Brake Controller is still located to the left of it.
We also see another set of additional USB outlets above the center console.
Ram hasn’t officially said how big the new Uconnect touchscreen is, but we believe it to be around 15 inches. The new screen will also be the hub for all functions on the Ram 1500 REV. This includes things like current charge status, charging schedules, and adjustable regeneration settings. These appear to be found in a new setting under the ‘Electric Vehicle’ pages. It will be featured alongside the ‘Drive Modes’ and ‘Off-Road Pages’.
Other Interior Highlights –
We can also see the standard Engine Start/Stop button has been replaced with a simple power symbol. The REV logo is featured next jeweled rotary-dial shifter (which is currently found on the Ram 1500 Limited Elite) and above it we see a new ‘Eco’ mode button to extend range.
Ram also appears to be putting a Front-Passenger Interactive Display, similar to the Grand Wagoneer in the location of the current truck’s upper glovebox. From what we can see in the images, the Ram version looks to have much better graphics than the current Jeep offerings. We also see what looks like more audio features than the current version too.
One thing we aren’t sure about is the purpose of the button where the upper glovebox was. Does it fold the new passenger screen into the dash or does it simply turn the screen on and off?
It also appears that the truck we were shown during the Super Bowl was a Limited-trimmed REV. In this last image, we can get a small glimpse of the digital guage cluster. It appears to be the same setup as the 2023 unit and we can see a similar font to the Limited one in the current truck. Ram has promised that their will be a REV for everyone, meaning we expect the REV trucks to mirror the internal combustion engine (ICE) models lineup (Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, and Limited).
