It Looks Like The Ram 1500 Will Get New Tech For 2021:

New Spy Shots Reveal Modest But Functional Changes...

Thanks to some new exclusive spy photos, we are getting an idea of some of the changes that may be in store for the Ram 1500 for the 2021 model year. While you shouldn’t expect much to change on the outside (unless you are looking at the upcoming 2021 Ram 1500 TRX), there will be a lot of new tech gadgets for 2021, coming to the Ram Truck brand’s most successful model.

Since the fifth-generation Ram 1500 arrived in showrooms in the first quarter of 2018, you have not been able to get a Ram 1500 with tow mirrors and the 360-degree camera system, but if these spy photos are any indication that is about to change. Looking at this 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport Quad Cab 4×4 prototype, upon a close glance, reveal some new secrets. A close look at the arm for the mirror shows a new protrusion from the bottom that looks to be hiding a new camera system, much like what was debuted on the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty lineup.

The new mirrors have also been caught on a 2021 Ram 1500 TRX prototype in recent days as well. Showing us, that even the new TRX will be ready to tow trailers with ease, besides offering a whopping 707 horsepower on tap.

Another interesting feature on this truck is the new LED third brake light, which we have already seen on the TRX prototypes making their rounds. The third brake light will also likely to house a new camera that allows the driver to look into the bed of the truck, giving yet another camera view and allowing drivers to keep an eye on their cargo. The Ram Heavy Duty models have had an LED third brake light with a bed camera for several years now, so it only makes sense that it will trickle down to the half-ton models as well.

Recent spy photos of the TRX from our friends over at TFLTruck.com have also shown a trailer steering knob, similar to what Ford has on their F-150 for a few years now. This is something else that is expected to carry over to the other Ram 1500 models for 2021. Could 2021 be the year, that Ram goes after the towing market even harder than they have? Are they looking to up the max towing from 12,750 pounds for the Hemi and current best-in-class half-ton diesel towing at 12,560 pounds with the EcoDiesel? Only time will tell.
