Heads-Up! The 2021 Ram 1500 Is Getting Smarter!

New HUD Display Is Coming For New Model Year...

There has been a lot of excitement going into the 2021 model year, with the Ram 1500. The second best-selling half-ton pickup on the market is getting ready to have its biggest year yet, since the fifth-generation pickup made its debut in 2018, as a 2019 model. With production starting in late August according to our sources, there has been a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming 707 horsepower Ram 1500 TRX (called T-Rex). However, not a lot has been discussed for the new model year.

A few weeks ago, our spy photographers caught several 2021 Ram 1500 prototypes running around the Metro Detroit area testing with several new technologies for the 2021 model year. This included the new Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) with rear high-definition camera backup system that was spotted on early 2021 Ram 1500 TRX prototypes, a new 360-degree camera system with trucks equipped with tow mirrors (something that was exclusive to the Ram Heavy Duty lineup), and a new trailer reverse steering control system that was leaked by our friends at TFLTruck.com. Now, thanks to our dealer connections we now learning about another new technology that will make its debut in 2021.

A new Uconnect-based heads-up display system will be offered for the first time in any Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) starting with the 2021 Ram 1500. We have talked a lot about this system making its debut on the upcoming 2022 Jeep® Grand Cherokee, but this is the first time we have heard about it in the Ram 1500 for 2021.

While not much is known surrounding the new system, we do know that it will be included as part of the revised Technology Group (ADG) package for 2021. With that package, the 2021 Ram 1500 will be equipped with the following features…

  • Heads-Up Display (LBK)
  • LED CHMSL Lamp (LPH)
  • Auto-Dimming Rear-View Mirror (GRG)

Our spy photographers have recently caught several 2021 Ram 1500 models with what looks to be fabric covering the dash over the instrument cluster, which indicates to us that the new heads-up display is hidden behind. Just like this 2021 Ram 1500 Lone Star tester, we posted earlier.

We can’t wait to see what other goodies that the Ram Truck team has in store for the 2021 model year.  To continue a further discussion about the 2021 Ram 1500, be sure to visit the 5thGenRams.com owner’s forums.
