Ram’s 14.5-Inch Uconnect 5 Screen: Bigger Isn’t Always Better

We Spent Time with the 2025 Ram 1500’s New Infotainment System — Here’s What You Need to Know

Ram has introduced a larger 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment screen for the 2025 Ram 1500 lineup, and we finally got the chance to spend some quality time with it. This new screen comes standard on the Limited, Longhorn, and Tungstentrims, while it’s an option on Laramie, Rebel, and the new RHO models. While bigger screens are often seen as an upgrade, we found that bigger doesn’t always mean better.

The 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 screen makes its debut alongside Ram’s new advanced Atlantis electrical architecture. This system is said to be up to five times faster than the previous generation, with more memory and lightning-quick response times as fast as 0.05 seconds. That sounds impressive on paper — but how does it hold up in the real world?

During our time with the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO equipped with the RHO Level 1 package, which includes this new infotainment screen, we noticed a few quirks. While the screen’s total size is 14.5 inches, only 13.25 inches are actually dedicated to the infotainment display. The bottom portion is reserved for trailer brake controller gain controls, trailer steering controls, and ParkSense activation buttons. This layout is convenient for towing-focused drivers but does eat into the screen’s real estate.

Visually, the new screen stands tall above the dash with a bit of a tablet-like appearance. While it offers more screen space compared to the well-loved 12-inch Uconnect 5 system, the larger display sacrifices some of the integrated look Ram owners have come to appreciate. Physical buttons on the sides are smaller, and both the volume and tuning knobs are downsized compared to the 12-inch version.

Feature-wise, both systems offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™, Performance Pages, and Race options for RHO buyers. The 14.5-inch version does add an extra screen for models equipped with massaging seats — a nice bonus for those seeking more luxury.

However, despite the promised speed of the new Atlantis electrical architecture, we experienced noticeable lag when switching between menus and functions. In day-to-day use, the difference in response time compared to the 12-inch system felt negligible.

If you’re considering upgrading your Ram 1500 solely for the bigger screen, you might want to think twice. The 12-inch Uconnect 5 system remains an excellent, well-integrated option that offers nearly identical functionality without the additional cost.

It’s also worth noting that the 14.5-inch Uconnect screen will be introduced in the upcoming 2025 Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty lineup, bringing the same advanced tech and larger display to Ram’s workhorse models.
