While the Jeep® brand got a lot of attention earlier today at the Chicago Auto Show, it wasn’t the only Stellantis brand to show off new products at the event. In fact, Stellantis’ other big player in the North American market, the RAM brand held a small press event where it showed off a trio of its new 2022 Ram 1500 models to the public.
Limited 10th Anniversary Edition:
The first was the 2022 Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Edition. Commemorating a decade of luxury pickup truck leadership, the Limited 10th Anniversary Edition includes a multifunction tailgate, Mopar center-mounted bed step, and adjustable cargo tie-down hooks. There is also an exclusive exterior paint color called Blue Shade, that is available.
Inside, the Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Edition’s interior is another summit in the light-duty lineup that already boasts the pinnacle of luxury and refinement. Segment-exclusive, quilted leather-wrapped seats and door inserts, new suede headliner, A-pillar, and visors highlight unique details. A 10th Anniversary badge is shown on the center console and a unique graphic appears on the driver’s cluster screen upon startup. A new Indigo/Sea Salt Grey interior color is accented with Aluminum Litho bezels, a unique shifter center cap, a 19-speaker premium sound system, and a metal pedal kit, giving the Limited 10th Anniversary Edition a well-crafted, high-quality feel and appearance.
The New G/T Package:
Available on the Rebel, Canadian-exclusive Sport, and Laramie models, the G/T package features unique technology and performance straight from the factory while staying true to the hardworking nature of the Ram 1500.
Ram 1500 G/T models feature a sport performance hood and G/T decals to distinguish them from the rest of the Rebel, Sport, and Laramie offerings. A factory-installed cold-end exhaust and cold-air intake, available through Mopar, are also standard. Performance pages are included on the 2022 Ram 1500 G/T as standard equipment and give drivers the tools necessary to become familiar with their vehicle’s performance. The app provides access to real-time vehicle performance information, including timers (such as 0-60 mph elapsed time), g-force, gauges, and engine performance. This data can be downloaded to a USB stick, allowing for easy sharing of driving performance.
The Ram 1500 G/T models feature a number of firsts for non-TRX models, including paddle shifters, a console-mounted performance shifter, and a metal pedal kit. A G/T-specific interior offers bucket seats that feature the G/T logo with high bolsters and all-weather floor mats from Mopar round out the distinctive interior content.
Big Horn/Lone Star BackCountry:
The 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition features robust off-road features straight from the factory while staying true to the hardworking nature of the Ram 1500.
The 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition features 18-inch black wheels, black two-tone exterior paint, black badging, exhaust tips, headlamp bezels, mirrors, and running boards. A body-color grille surround and tonneau cover also are included and help set BackCountry up from the rest of the light-duty lineup.
Standard functional features include the 4×4 Off-Road Group, which includes tow hooks, skid plates for the front suspension, transfer case, power steering and fuel tank, rear electronic locking axle, off-road calibrated shocks, hill-descent control, all-terrain tires, and Bed Utility Group, which includes upper adjustable tie-downs, bed extender (available with RamBox only) deployable bed step, bed lighting, and spray-in bed liner.
Inside, the 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry offers a black interior with bucket seats. A BackCountry badge on the instrument panel and all-weather slush mats from Mopar round out the distinctive interior content.
It looks like the 2022 Ram 1500 lineup will be the best yet, with the launch of the Uconnect 5 infotainment system across the lineup, new equipment packages, and the return of the supercharged TRX performance off-roader. The 2022 Ram 1500 goes into production at the end of the month at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
Since the event was not Livestreamed, thanks to the Sons Of Speed YouTube channel, we have coverage of the event from Chicago posted below.
