Over the past couple of months, we have been breaking down the various new models and special editions surrounding the 2022 Ram 1500. This morning, the RAM brand decided to release specific details and official pricing on three of the new special edition models at the annual State Fair of Texas. Those models include the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Ignition Edition, the 2022 Ram 1500 Limited (RAM)RED Edition, and the 2022 Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn SouthFork Edition models.
2022 Ram 1500 TRX Ignition Edition:
The all-new 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Ignition Edition (dealer code TRX), follows in the footsteps of last year’s TRX Launch Edition. Showcased in an Ignition Orange exterior color, the TRX stands out from the rest of the TRX lineup and is sure to be a head-turner. Based on the premium TR Level 2 Equipment Group, the Ignition Edition features new 18-inch machine face black wheels, special exterior graphics, cargo tie-downs, spray-in bed liner, and Mopar bed step.
Inside, the Ignition Edition features Copperhead Orange stitching and embroidered TRX logos on the seatbacks. An orange center console badge, a Copper carbon-fiber accent package, and special orange tweeters highlight the interior color scheme. The 12-inch infotainment touchscreen now supports the much faster Uconnect 5 software. A Heads-Up Display (HUD), panoramic sunroof, and Mopar all-weather slush mats which feature orange Ram’s head logos instead of the traditional red are included in the package. The optional Pedestrian Emergency Braking feature is standard on the Ignition package.
The Ignition package will be available in both the United States and Canada. Ignition Orange was previously featured on limited runs of the 2017 Ram 1500 Sport and 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Express. Ram 1500 TRX Ignition Edition has a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting at $91,585, plus $1,695 destination. For Canadians, the Ignition Edition has a starting Canadian MSRP of $125,075, plus a $2,795 destination. Both markets will begin selling the Ignition Edition in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Keep in mind, RAM will only produce 875 units for the U.S. and 100 units for Canada of the Ignition Edition.
2022 Ram 1500 Limited (RAM)RED Edition:
The second new special edition package is the 2022 Ram 1500 Limited (RAM)RED Edition. The (RED) Organization is a non-profit that raises money to fight AIDS and now, COVID-19. To help support those important causes Ram has created this Limited-based special edition.
Based on the Limited Crew Cab with the 5-foot, 7-inch box configuration, the Limited (RAM)RED Edition comes with the customer’s choice of 5.7-liter HEMI V8 in both non-hybrid and eTorque mild-hybrid configurations. Both HEMI engines deliver 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. Or if you prefer diesel power, the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 will also be available with 260 horsepower and 480 lb.-ft. of torque and a 22 city / 32 highway / 26 combined MPG rating.
The Limited (RAM)RED Edition features a red R-A-M text on the grille, unique (R-A-M) RED door badging, and a (RED) badge on the center console lid.
Pricing has yet to be announced for the Limited (RAM)RED Edition. The Limited (RAM)RED Edition will be available in both the United States and Canada and is expected to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2021.
2022 Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn SouthFork Edition:
New for the 2022 model year, the Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn SouthFork Edition replaces Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition in last year’s lineup and includes a multi-function tailgate, deployable bed step, spray-in bedliner, metal pedal kit, and Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires. Other features include adjustable cargo tie-down hooks, LED bed lights, and a cargo divider.
Inside, the Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn SouthFork Edition features an exclusive Mountain Brown interior color, standard bucket seats, and suede door bolsters with leather insert and a laser filigree detail on the speaker grilles.
The Limited Longhorn SouthFork Edition will be exclusive to the American market and will have a starting MSRP of $61,620, plus a $1,695 destination charge. Like the others, it will also go on sale during the fourth quarter later this year.
