Ram Mexico Expands Its Ram 1500 (DT) Lineup For 2022 Model Year!

Mexico Now Gets Tradesman & Big Horn Models, & Pentastar V6 with eTorque...

Since its introduction in the Mexican marketplace, the fifth-generation Ram 1500 (DT) pickups have come standard with 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 power. In 2020, Ram Mexico launched the Ram 1500 with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 equipped with the eTorque mild-hybrid system under the hood. Unlike the lineups in the United States and Canada, the entire Ram 1500 lineup came standard with the HEMI V8 eTorque powertrain. But now, that’s about to change.

For the first time in Mexico, Ram will offer the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 with the eTorque mild-hybrid system in both its Tradesman and Big Horn trim levels. The Pentastar V6’s eTorque system combines a belt-drive motor generator unit with a 48-volt battery pack to enable the truck’s Start/Stop function, adds short-term torque assist, and brake energy regeneration.

The engine is mated to a quick but smooth-shifting 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, designed by ZF.

While the Pentastar V6 delivers 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque, the eTorque system can add up to an additional 90 lb.-ft. of short-term torque assist, when needed. The eTorque system also pushes the Pentastar-powered Ram 1500 to deliver a fuel economy rating of 9.42 km/l city (22 MPG), 13.47 km/l highway (31MPG), and combined 10.89 km/l (26 MPG) according to the Mexico standards.

Also new for the Mexican market, is the introduction of the Tradesman and Big Horn trim levels for the Ram 1500. Now, while the Big Horn has been in the Mexican market with the Big Horn Off-Road, it marks the first time it will be available without the 4×4 Off-Road package.

The Tradesman package comes with a body-color grille surround, black exterior mirrors, black door handles, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. Built as the tough everyday pickup for those who work in the trades or those who play hard, the Tradesman will come standard with running boards and a bedliner.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Mild-Hybrid Tradesman has an interior that matches the duality of lifestyle and work. The Tradesman offers a standard three-passenger 40/20/40 bench seat, a 6-speaker audio system, push-button start, automatic dimming rear-view mirror, manually adjustable seats, and a folding rear seat.

Pricing for the 2022 Ram 1500 Mild-Hybrid Tradesman starts at $899,900 MXN (or about $45,395 USD). Those looking for the more upscale Ram 1500 Mild-Hybrid Big Horn, starts at $959,900 MXN (or about $48,422 USD). Both trucks are built at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
