Back in November, the Ram Truck brand announced a new “Built to Serve” limited-edition of its popular 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn pickups was coming. The new limited-edition trucks honor the five United States Armed Forces branches with a unique package that includes a low-volume paint option representing colors of those branches and other unique interior and exterior features that set them apart from the standard 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn pickups being produced by the nation’s second-largest truck manufacturer.
Since the introduction of the “Built to Serve” models, the 5thGenRams’ e-mail and social media accounts have been flooded with questions about when are the trucks going to start showing up on dealer lots. Well this weekend, we had a chance to drive by the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) located in Sterling Heights, Michigan where the 2020 Ram 1500 is built and found a huge amount of the limited-edition trucks getting ready to undergo customization at the Mopar Custom Shop located at the SHAP site.
The holding lot at the SHAP site seemed to be filled with the Gator-colored models. Now, Ram has already stated that a limited number of the trucks will be built in the following colors…
- Gator (1,000 units) and Diamond Black (1,000)
- Ceramic Gray (1,000) and Patriot Blue (1,000)
- Anvil (1,000) and Billet Silver (1,000)
- Tank (1,000) and Flame Red (1,000)
- Spitfire (500) and Bright White (500)
While we were there, we also saw about a dozen 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel models in the new Hydro Blue also awaiting final touches at the Mopar Custom Shop before being sent off to dealers. The new for 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel in Hydro Blue models, really stand out and are becoming a favorite color option of the 5thGenRams staff. So we can’t wait to see these on the streets soon.
