After two years of ownership, we have loved our time with our 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport. We opted for the Laramie Sport as it provided the best street appeal and performance at the time of the fifth-generation Ram half-ton’s launch.
Fast-forward two model years, Ram Trucks has since released the darkened-theme Night Edition package for the Big Horn (Lone Star in Texas), Sport (Canada), Rebel, Laramie, and Limited trims giving the Ram 1500 a more sinister look on the street. But going into the 2022 model year, the game is about to change with the addition of the new G/T Package (ASU) which offers customers a sporty new package along with some performance goodies that owners have been asking for since the fifth-generation pickups first arrived on dealer lots in 2018.
So what does the G/T Package bring to the Sport, Rebel, and Laramie pickups? A lot…

You might have noticed that the G/T Package ditches the controversial rotary-dial shift knob on the Sport, Rebel, and Laramie, in favor of the TRX’s center console-mounted shifter. The console-mounted shifter means that the G/T Package also adds paddle shifters located behind the steering wheel as well. The package includes a bunch of creature comforts like memory seats, mirrors, pedals, and stereo settings, as well as LED accent lighting and ventilated front seats (except on Rebel).
Performance-wise, the G/T Package adds a 3.92 rear axle ratio, Mopar cold-air intake, and passive cold end exhaust. The package also adds G/T decals and the beloved Sport Performance Hood to enhance the half-ton’s exterior looks.
As for pricing, we don’t have details just yet since Ram Trucks hasn’t officially announced the package as of the date of this writing. But we can’t wait to see it in person.
