After years of anticipation, the Ram TRX is here! After taking the second-place spot from Chevrolet last year in pickup sales, the RAM brand has made it no secret that it places on going after Ford Motor Company for the top spot. With the introduction of the TRX performance off-roader, which is one of the missing puzzle pieces needed to take on Ford.
In case you missed the unveiling, we have you covered. The 26-minute presentation from the FCA Conner Center in Detroit, Michigan, was one that highlighted RAM’s performance heritage with vehicles like the 1978 Dodge Li’l Red Express truck and the Viper-powered 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10. Mike Koval, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – North America, had the honor of unveiling the new supercharged HEMI-powered TRX (also called the “T-Rex”) to the public for the first time.
“The all-new 2021 Ram TRX sets the benchmark for extreme performance pickup trucks and solidifies Ram Truck’s position as the off-road truck leader,” said Koval. “Ram has a strong history of high-performance trucks and TRX adds to that while expanding the light-duty lineup with the segment’s best combination of performance, capability, luxury, and technology.”
Rated at 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 engine powers the Ram TRX to a top speed of 118 mph. Combined with a high-torque-capacity 8HP95 TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission, the Ram TRX delivers a new level of performance: 0-60 miles per hour (mph) in 4.5-seconds and the quarter-mile in 12.9-seconds at 108 mph.
