Ram is set to unveil the 2025 Ram 1500 TRX in a significant departure from tradition, marking a departure from its two-decade reliance on the HEMI V8 engine. The forthcoming model will have the high-performance HURRICANE H.O. engine, promising a different driving experience.
For the first time since 2003, the 2025 Ram 1500 will forego the iconic HEMI V8 in favor of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter HURRICANE I6 engine. Expected to deliver over 510 horsepower, it’s a noteworthy shift in power dynamics. With a modest tune, the H.O. variant of the HURRICANE could push out an impressive 550 horsepower.
The HURRICANE H.O. will be mated with the reliable ZF-sourced 8HP75 8-speed automatic transmission, ensuring seamless power distribution and efficient gear transitions. This is the same transmission on the current 5.7-liter HEMI® V8-powered Ram 1500s.
Spy shots of the HURRICANE-powered TRX undergoing testing have provided a sneak peek at the 2025 Ram 1500’s exterior updates. While the front remains under wraps, insiders suggest a new headlight and front grille design, adhering closely to the current aesthetic. The expanded grille is purportedly designed to facilitate increased airflow for the turbocharged engine, though its impact on water-fording capabilities remains uncertain.
Inside, the 2025 Ram 1500 TRX will showcase a redesigned center stack to accommodate the updated 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen. Additionally, a new RamCharger induction phone charger offers added convenience, particularly for those with larger devices.
