We are getting our first look at the upcoming 2019 Ram 3500 Limited Mega Cab with minimal camouflage. This heavily updated Ram Heavy Duty, is the top-spec model and follows a lot of characteristics that its smaller Ram 1500 sibling has.
The first detail giving this new Heavy Duty prototype away that it is a Limited is its new grille. The Heavy Duty models for the 2019 model year, will have similar grille patterns found on the all-new 2019 Ram 1500. With this particular one, we see it carries the same upper grille insert treatment as the Ram 1500 Limited for the 2019 model year. Just like the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, the grille inserts in the front bumper are the same pattern found on the Tradesman model across the trim levels.
We see that the 4th generation Ram’s front bumper has been completely redesigned to accommodate the shared fog lights with built-in ParkSense front parking sensors as the 5th generation Ram 1500 models. Headlamp styling for the updated Heavy Duty all carry the same similar shape across the trims, unlike the Ram 1500 models which have completely different shapes from the lower and mid-range trim levels versus the Laramie Longhorn and Limited models. While this particular model has different LED headlamp projectors as the once we showed you just days ago, we do believe that the outer low beam is a LED Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), however we still can’t still if the high beams are or not. We bet they more than likely are, given that the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited carries both inboard and outboard AFS LED head lamps.
While much of the styling is same, the updated 2019 Ram Heavy Duty will get all new sheet metal from the A-pillar forward. The front retains that more aggressive “big rig” look of the 4th generations, where the 5th generation has gone to a much more conventional looks while still having some of the “big rig” styling elements. Like the Ram 1500, the Heavy Duty has the “Ram Horns” trim that go up and over the grille and the head lamps. As we said before, peeking underneath the camouflage on the hood, the Heavy Dutys will have the Ram trim level badge on the hood as well.
The new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty Limited also benefits from the Ram 1500 Limited, thanks to it’s power folding running boards. The 4th generation Ram Heavy Duty will be the most advanced 4th generation Ram truck yet, thanks to the technology from the 5th generation Ram 1500.
From the looks of it, these new Ram Heavy Dutys are the perfect blend of the 4th generation trucks mixed with everyone loves about the 5th generation and will surely be a hit.
