We promised to cover as many of the different variants of the new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty trucks that we could. We just received some new pictures of another variant we haven’t seen just yet. This regular cab model appears to be a 2500 Heavy Duty model.
Currently for the 2018 model year, a regular cab model is only available on both the 2500 and 3500 in Tradesman or SLT trims. If you step up to a Big Horn/Lone Star or higher trim package, a Crew Cab is the entry level configuration.
With the new 2019 models around the corner, we are seeing more and more different types of variants of Heavy Dutys daily. If the 2019 model follows in the footsteps of it’s baby brother the 2019 Ram 1500, the SLT package will be axed from the lineup. While we still can’t confirm this, several of our sources are saying that the Heavy Duty lineup for the 2019 model year will match the 1500s.
In this particular truck, hidden behind the front camouflage are a set of halogen headlights. Now, halogens are standard equipment on the 1500 Tradesman and Big Horn/Lone Star models, this would tell us this is either a Tradesman or Big Horn/Lone Star. The wheels are a different design then what we have seen before. They look to be 18-inch aluminum wheels and since these trucks are updated versions of the current trucks, we believe the wheels are 18-inch x 8.0-inch aluminum wheels. The current 2018 models offer a 6-spoke wheel on the SLT models. Which leads us to believe that this is in fact the entry level 2500 Big Horn/Lone Star package.
Judging by the size of the exhaust, this would be a HEMI powered truck. We still don’t know if the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 will return to be the standard engine choice for the new model year, or if the 6.4-liter BGE (Big Gas Engine) HEMI V8 will become the standard power plant. Stay tuned as we breakdown even more variants of the upcoming Ram Heavy Duty trucks.
