Ram Trucks debuts Tradesman model in Indianapolis, Indiana

Ram Trucks has chosen the NTEA’s Work Truck Show to publicly debut the all new 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman for the first time. The Tradesman is the last model to be shown publicly. In Detroit at the reveal Ram Trucks showed the Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie and Limited trims while revealing the Laramie Longhorn 9 days later at the Houston Auto Show. 

The Tradesman model which debuted in 2011 aimed at Commercial fleets, Small businesses and Construction companies, has worked out well for the Ram brand.  For 2019 the Tradesman will be available as a 4×2 or 4×4 in a Quad Cab with a 6’4 box configuration or a Crew cab with 5’7 or 6’4 box lengths. A 4×2 Quad Cab starts at $31,695 and pricing ranges up to $38,295 for a Crew cab 6’4 box, plus a destination charge of $1,645.

Standard in Tradesman models is the 3.6 Pentastar V6 with eTorque system rated at 305HP and 269lb ft of torque with a 90lb ft of torque boost available from the eTorque system. A 5.7 Hemi V8 rated at 395hp and 410lb ft of torque is an $1,195 option. The 5.7 Hemi V8 with eTorque is a $1,995 option over the base V6 and while it has the same power and torque ratings of the regular 5.7 Hemi there is an additional 130lb ft of torque available in certain situations from the eTorque system. 

A properly equipped Quad Cab can tow up to 12,750lbs and has a payload rating of 2,300lbs. All 2019 Ram 1500’s have massive 14.9 inch front brakes and a class exclusive multi link rear coil suspension. Ram’s 4 corner air suspension with automatic load levelling is also available as an option on all Tradesman models, something that no other competitor offers on any trim.

Standard interior features on the all-new Ram Tradesman include, Uconnect 5.0 with five-inch screen and hands-free calling, one-year of SiriusXM Radio, a 12-volt auxiliary power outlet, three USB ports, one auxiliary port and automatic headlamps. Buyers can choose vinyl or cloth 40/20/40 split bench seats with six-passenger capability, featuring shoulder and lap belts on all six seats. Interior colors include Black/Diesel Gray with either standard vinyl or carpeted flooring.

Standard equipment includes 160-amp alternator, 3.21 rear axle ratio, 730-amp maintenance-free battery, black grille and black steel bumpers, cargo bed lamp, front and rear Frequency Response Damping (FRD) shock absorbers, rear view camera, tilt and telescoping steering column, halogen headlamps, locking tailgate, power door locks, power windows, remote keyless entry and a theft-deterrent system.

There is a long list of options for the Tradesman trim as well including, 3.21 or 3.92 rear axle ratios, anti-spin rear differential, rear electric-locking differential, off-road package with factory suspension lift, 180-amp alternator, folding trailer-tow mirrors, rubber floor mats, Mopar chrome side steps and bumper step, spray-in bedliner and trailer brake controller.

There is an optional Chrome package which replaces the black bumpers and grille with chrome counterparts or an optional Monochrome package that replaces the black bumpers and grille with body coloured counterparts creating a sporty look. 

The Work Truck Show runs March 6-9th at the Indiana Convention Center, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
