Ram Trucks Australia Outsells Jeep® Brand For Third Month This Year.

Sales Data Shows Ram Sales Are Up 51% Over The Same Period Last Year...

New car buyers in Australia are continuing to show their love for the Ram brand, as the American pickup brand has outsold the beloved Jeep® brand in the past two consecutive months, and for the third time this year.

Sales data show that Ram sales have increased by more than 50% year-to-date at the end of October 2022, while Jeep sales have decreased by 10% in the same time frame. Jeep contributes the results to rising prices and inventory shortage in the country.

On the other hand, Ram Trucks Australia has almost tripled its local manufacturing capacity in Melbourne. It is there where Ram Trucks Australia converts the American and Mexican-built pickups from their left-hand drive (LHD) configuration to right-hand drive (RHD) for the local market.

According to sales reports, Ram Trucks Australia sold 657 units last month, surpassing their previous record of 633 units in June 2022. Currently, Ram has sold a total of 4,810 units so far this year. That is an increase of 51% when compared to the same time period last year, and has already surpassed the total record set last year of 4,025 units. And that is with the rest of November and the full month of December remaining.

But the Jeep brand still is in the lead for total vehicles sold since the start of the year, with 5,774 units sold through the end of October 2022.

With the success of the brand, other automakers have expressed their intentions to grow in the Australian market. General Motors’ Speciality Vehicle (GMSV) unit, said it is looking to expand its local operation and is set on opening a new autonomous remanufacturing facility. Both Ford and Toyota have also said they will also be entering the market next year, depending on the results of final validation testing.

Ram Trucks Australia has reported a long wait for those waiting for a pickup, but dealers say that delivery times are improving. However, last year customers were waiting 6 to 9 months for their trucks to be delivered.
