This morning Ram Truck introduced a new Snow Plow Prep package that will be available on the 2021 Ram 1500 at the National Truck Equipment Association’s (NTEA) “The Work Truck Show®” in Indianapolis, Indiana. Avid readers of 5thGenRams might remember this article we wrote almost 2 years ago to the day, showing a manufacturer test truck roaming the streets of Metro Detroit with a snowplow mounted to the front.
Available on 2021 Ram 1500 Tradesman, Big Horn, and Laramie 4×4 models equipped with either the 5.7-liter HEMI V8, 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with eTorque, or the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, the Snow Plow Prep Package will be a $195 U.S. option.
Checking the option box will delete the front active air dam and add a 220-amp alternator, truck side snow plow wiring harness, and rear power sliding window with defroster. The plow itself, mounts and controller are all sold separately and are available through several manufacturers.
“As part of Ram’s commitment to continuous improvement within the segment, we now offer a Snow Plow Prep package for Ram 1500 customers,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand. “Ram has taken a larger presence in the commercial vehicle market, and this offering is the latest expansion of our hard-working trucks.”
With up to 12,750 pounds of towing capacity and a maximum payload of 2,300 pounds, the Ram 1500 has never been more capable than it is today. Options like the new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 with a class-leading 480lb.-ft of torque and unique features such as the optional RamBox system along with the new multi-function tailgate are helping the Ram Truck brand grow market share year after year, along with making peoples lives easier that rely on their trucks for work or play. The Snow Plow Prep package will be available later this year.
