With the continuation of the semiconductor shortage, we have seen a number of weird repackaging options from various automakers. But it appears that Ram Trucks is now offering a new discount package for lighting when it comes to its entry-premium level Ram 1500 Laramie trimmed pickups.
The Ram 1500 Laramie, is the sweet spot of the Ram pickup lineup. Once the top-tier trim for Ram has now become a value luxury package, offering standard features like a 7-inch digital information cluster display, heated and ventilated leather-trimmed 10-way power driver and front passenger seats, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, memory features for driver’s seat, exterior mirrors, adjustable pedals, and radio station presets, and LED headlamps, taillamps, and fog lamps.
Keeping that last standard feature of LED exterior lighting in mind, a few of our 5thGenRams.com forum members have pointed out various dealerships taking delivery of Ram 1500 Laramies without LED exterior lighting. After doing some research, we noticed that the RamTrucks.com website’s “Build & Price” configurator now includes a new “Front Lighting Value Package“. The package switches the LED headlamps and fog lamps for halogen lighting and credits the customer $495. It is worth noting that the LED taillamps do stay on the Laramie.
Considering the upgrade to LED exterior lighting on Big Horn models with the optional Premium Lighting Group is $995, we find the Front Lighting Value Package a disappointment considering downgrading on the higher Laramie trim model.
The Front Lighting Value Package can be applied on all Laramie models including Sport Appearance, Night Edition, and G/T models.
With the performance of the LED headlamps and fog lamps at night, from experience, it is worth every penny over the dismal performance of the halogen units performance. Something to keep in mind, if you are purchasing a 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie in our opinion.
The truck pictured here is currently in inventory (as of the writing of this article) at Schumacher Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, Ram of Delray, located in Delray Beach, Florida.
