For the U.S market the 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman, Big Horn and Laramie all have the option of adding a Sport or Black package to them replacing the dedicated Sport model, while Ram announced a Canada only Sport trim back in February. In talking to Canadian dealers for the past few months they have all said that we couldn’t order a Sport package on any other trim aside from the dedicated Sport model. When the Build and Price launched in Canada that was still the case.
While the Sport trim can be nicely optioned, noticeably missing from it is the option to get the 12 Inch UConnect system, Harman Kardon audio, as well as some other options only available on the Laramie trim and above. Going through the 2019 Ram Build and Price today I noticed that the Sport and Black packages have been added to the Laramie trim.
I believe that this is a good move as it allows Canadian buyers that want the Sport look but with the 12 inch Uconnect screen, Harman Kardon audio, as well as some other Laramie specific options the choice to do so. I personally was a little disappointed when I saw that the Sport package wasn’t available on the Laramie trim in Canada but am glad to see that Ram Trucks Canada has decided to offer up the option. When I buy my new truck, I know exactly what I’m getting, it’s good to see the amount of choice from Ram, they have covered all the bases and now offer something for everyone with the new 1500s.
