Ram 1500 REV Update: Long-Range Version Dropped Amid Ramcharger Launch Pull-Ahead

Ram Cancels the Long-Range Ram 1500 REV, Focusing on the High-Performance Ramcharger

Ram 1500 REV Update

In a recent development, 5thGenRams.com has learned from reliable sources that the highly anticipated long-range version of the Ram 1500 REV has been canceled. This decision is not particularly surprising, considering last week’s pause on the development of the Chrysler C6X BEV SUV, which indicates that Stellantis is reevaluating its electrification strategy as a whole.

The long-range variant of the Ram 1500 REV, which was set to include a massive 229 kWh battery pack designed to achieve an impressive range of up to 500 miles on a single charge, has reportedly been shelved. This version aimed to provide best-in-class mileage, making it a standout option in the expanding market for full-sized electric trucks.

Notice sent to suppliers informing Ram REV XL cancelation

Meanwhile, the standard Ram 1500 REV, featuring a 168 kWh battery capable of delivering an estimated range of 350 miles, remains on track for production. It is equipped with 800-volt DC fast charging technology, which allows drivers to add up to 110 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

We contacted Ram for an official comment and were informed: “This decision was related to the recent move that created an opportunity to lead with Ramcharger technology.”

With the upcoming Ram 1500 Ramcharger on the horizon, it seems Ram no longer sees the need for the long-range variant of the Ram REV. To recap, the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger is a plug-in hybrid pickup that combines impressive performance with exceptional range and capability. It delivers 663 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.

The Ramcharger is equipped with a 92 kWh battery and an onboard 130 kW generator powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine. It targets a total range of up to 690 miles and boasts a towing capacity of up to 14,000 pounds, with a maximum payload of 2,625 pounds. This makes it a versatile choice for both work and recreation, eliminating range anxiety while towing thanks to the onboard generator.

Ramcharger ordering opens in the first half of this year, followed by the Ram 1500 REV launch in 2026.
