Epic Adventure Outfitters Puts Their Ram Rebel G/T On Tracks

Canadian Upfitter, Takes The Ram 1500 To The Next Overlanding Level...

Our friends over at Epic Adventure Outfitters have been busy lately. If they aren’t upfitting the latest Jeep® Wrangler (JL), Gladiator (JT), or Ram 1500 (DT), they are creating some of the craziest HEMI®-swapped Jeeps as Canada’s official America’s Most Wanted 4×4 (AMW4x4) upfitter.

One of their long-term project vehicles has been a 2022 Ram 1500 Rebel G/T Crew Cab 4×4 known as “Swim Shady”. The truck has been upgraded with a number of aftermarket goodies, which they have turned into an amazing Overlanding vehicle. Since arriving at the shop from the dealer, the Rebel G/T got a complete suspension makeover thanks to a BDS 6-inch suspension with FOX™ adjustable coil-overs and piggyback rear shocks, as well as a set of BDS upper control arms.

The truck was then fitted with a set of White Knuckle Off-Road rock sliders, a GoFast platform camper, sPod Bantam X Switch Center, an Addictive Desert Designs Stealth Fighter front bumper, a WARN VR EVO 12-S winch, Factor 55 Flatlink, Baja Designs 40-inch light bar, LP4 pillar lights, a Rock Lights Custom in-bed spare tire carrier, fuel caddy, water caddy, refrigerator, and even a Treeline 2.5m awning.

After taking the truck Overlanding in Nevada, the truck has been quietly getting ready for the British Columbia winter season. Gone are the 20-inch x 9-inch FUEL Militia Wheels wrapped in 37×12.50R20 Baja Boss MT rubber, now replaced with a set of tracks from American Track Truck. To help with clearance for the brakes and body, the tracks were installed with a custom set of 5-inch wheel spacers. The American Track Truck custom Dominator XL tracks.

The Epic team then took the truck up to the mountains to try out the new setup, and the truck didn’t disappoint in the deep snow.

However, they did learn some interesting things on their journey. For example, if you touch the brakes, you start to slide. They found out it’s best just to let off the throttle and come to a stop with the friction of the tracks. Another thing was that the Ram 1500’s power steering can’t take continuous very slow speed maneuvers without overheating. It happened when trying to do a 12-point turn around. They also mentioned that the fuel economy on the tracks was terrible, but it didn’t stop them from powering through the deep snow with ease on this latest epic adventure.
