USB Charge Only Option?

Is there a way to make the multitude of USB ports spread throughout the interior all just be for charging? Every time I've got the kids in the truck with me, they plug their phone(s) in to charge them up and the next thing I know my bluetooth music streaming is interrupted by a bunch of messages on the screen wanting to setup Android Auto for their phone(s), and whatever the kids are listening to on their phone takes over on the speakers. I hate it and just want the darn USB ports to be for charging, plain and simple. We don't need to plug into anything to "connect"... Is there a menu option to make this happen, or even at least a way to make a priority list of what the system looks for or keeps active when something does get plugged in, so it doesn't pop up on the screen and whatnot?

In my truck there is a USB charge only outlet in the center console. I don't know if you have that in your truck. If you have that outlet you could run a dual usb splitter from that location and have them plug in. It will not charge their devices as quick but it may be a solution so you don't have to turn off the screen projection/car play/android auto option through uconnect and still retain that option for your device.

Center console and rear USB’s don’t effect my Uconnect media system

Also, if you have power inverter outlet in the rear, just have them charge into that using a dual usb plug in?

Thanks for the quick responses! My truck does have the center console USB port, and the 120V outlet on the rear of the console itself. That said, I'd like to avoid additional wires/splitters if possible, that is what makes a USB port so handy because pretty much every device can use a simple USB port for charging with a single cord and no other chunks/blocks/widgets...

I totally get that I'm whining here and this is a top echelon first world problem, so please bear with me as I continue to complain about something that is of absolutely no consequence to anything :ROFLMAO:

Other than the suggestions above I don’t think there is any easier way to do it. A programming tool, like alphaodb may or may not be able to reprogram those ports as charge only (I’m not sure) but will cost you money. You could also take apart that console a bit and rewire the rear ports by disconnecting them and tapping them into the console usb. I’m guessing you don’t want to do that.
I agree that we should be able to do toggle those ports off from data mode in Uconnect.

Your best option is getting a "charge only" or data block cable. Here is one example on amazon https://www.amazon.com/PortaPow-Specialised-3-3ft-20AWG-Charge/dp/B00RQ5AZ6Q

AH HA!!!! Now THAT looks like an answer right there!!! So that type of a cable essentially makes even a data port just transfer power and not accept/look for input from a device? I can just keep a couple of those cables in the truck instead of the typical ones and it's a done deal? Yahtzee!!

I have one of those and it works great.

The charge-only cables are a good solution. However, you can limit this in the menu settings. I believe it's under devices. You turn off the projection aspect I believe. I had to do this when I picked mine up because the family all plugged in. Android Auto was all confused with 3 simultaneous devices plugged in!

A USB connection has a data connection and a power/charging connection. These devices/cables break the data connection circuit and only pass the charging connection.

I hope this helps and good luck.

YES YOU CAN! I hated this too. First you have to disable Android Auto trying to auto connect in each device. Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Android Auto > Advanced > Additional Settings in App > Connected Cars and remove your RAM then toggle the auto connect to OFF. Next go to Uconnect and find the audio options for USB and turn AutoPlay USB to OFF. Once you've done both, nothing should happen when you plug in your Android device other than charging. I set this up with my wife and I's phones because we wanted charge only just like you and don't use Android Auto. Works fine now.

Won’t that disable it for all usbs including the front? Then each time you plug something into one it will ask you the question and you will have to answer whether or not to connect? That might get annoying as well.

For a new device? maybe. But we get no on screen anything when plugging in either of our phones to the front USB-C ports. Whatever audio (FM, XM, Bluetooth) was already going continues uninterrupted and no on screen pop ups of any kinds.

so then it basically disabled data for all the ports and if you want to listen to something on your phone you have to toggle it back on by going thru the Uconnect menus? Basically it’s all usbs data on or all are off?

Shouldn't be. It's just disabling AutoPlay for USB so you should still be able to select USB in the audio panel. It's not disabling anything other than telling Uconnect not to automatically change to USB audio when a phone is plugged in and telling your phone to not try to run Android Auto immediately on getting plugged in. Everything else should still work fine.
