Good Morning everybody. The truck is one week old and this morning on the way to work I put on XM and no sound. I changed the source to bluetooth no diffirence. Pulled over shut the truck down for 15 sec started it back up and still no sound. Everything on the uconnect works like it should just no sound. In about an hour I'm going to pull the amp fuse and see if that helps. For those with a similar problem I will post an update if that solves the issue. Even If it does I feel that it's not a real solution and it will probably happen again.

Good luck and hope they find a fix for yours.
Several of us have had issues and the dealer could not replicate it or fix it. I have less than 5000 on mine. Brakes still squeal, radio acts up and I get a bogging down sound every now and then but it goes away. Dealer AND Chrysler Corp told me the sound was the freakn KO2's I put on the truck and were not recommended for my truck. Really?? All terrain tires on a 4WD truck. God forbid! Not to mention I did not have the sound traveling to SC from NJ and back, prior to taking it to the dealer.

I am having the same issue. I posted under the Uconnect thread. I took it to the dealer and after plugging into the ECM to pull my information the speakers started working again. On my way home from work the backup camera stopped working so I am starting to think I have a bad unit or a short somewhere. Let me know if you find a fix/solution.

Sorry for late response I was away on vacation with no cellphone service. So I pulled the amplifier fuse and started the truck. Radio still worked but no sound (obviously). I shut the truck off and installed the fuse back in. Started the truck and bam I have sound again. It hasn't gone mute on me since. I hope it stays that way. At least I have a quick fix if it does and it hopeful helps out others with the same issue.

Had the same problem on my 12" ......twice....... the last time I was driving by a Ram dealer and they "reset" the unit with their computer. I was thinking about pulling the Neg battery cable to "reset" the unit but your fuse idea makes much more sense.

The newer and newer vehicles get with electronics the more gremlins they have. They’re computers with software now just like your laptop or phone. Any time I run into a “gremlin”, I pull the battery cable, turn the lights on to exhaust any charge left in the vehicle and then reconnect the battery. 9 times out of 10, the problem is fixed. Knock on wood, this Ram has been good so hopefully me just typing about this won’t make it screwy. ;)

This happened to me this morning. No sound and volume level stuck on 10. Knob and steering wheel controls didn’t work. Tried a couple of soft reset siggestions but those didn’t work. Was at a gas station so shut it down, got some coffee and everything worked when I restarted the engine. Weird.

@Detzl Thank you for creating this thread!! I just bought myself a new 2019 Bighorn Ram and the sound on my radio went out today! Sounds like the same problem you were having. I'm going to try the fuse trick - fingers crossed it will work.

Well, I started my truck up later that day and the audio started working again.
The very next day, around the same time the audio wasn't working, I fired up my truck and again no audio. So, I drove it straight to Dodge to get it fixed.
I'll let everyone know what they find out and what the root of the cause may be.

I had this issue on the way to work this morning, no radio when I started the truck but finally came on as got was almost to work. I was messing with the buttons and when hit the button on the back of the steering wheel that changes between XM/FM/SAT it finally came on. I did switch between all these options first on the screen and navigation and no sound on anything.

THIS! My sound was not working and I tried this. Everything came back right away. Thanks!

I've noticed a gremlin pops up on average every 10-15 starts. Doesn't matter if remote started or manual start... but about once a week I get either the, (randomly)...
"Screen lock gremlin" - no buttons work but sound is on.
"Sound out gremlin" - no sound but controls work.
"Blue screen gremlin" - 50/50 if sound works, stays blue less then a minute then resets.
"Rear camera gremlin" - rear camera not available.
"No favorites listed" - When remotely started my favorite artists are never listed as on air. When manually started my favorites appear 50% of the time.

Those, to my knowledge, are the most commonly complained about gremlins by 5th gen owners. I've seen them all on my 8.4nav and apparently there's the odd member that claims to have never experienced any of them, but they have not confirmed software versions, build dates or any details of their trucks at all, so they could be false.

Can't wait for that end of year update!

This! Created an account just to thank you for this. Our month old Bighorn had no sound today. Ironically the wife and I didn't notice there was no music until we were parking and the sensors weren't beeping. Tried numerous restarts and all buttons on the radio itself. The steering wheel button did the trick.

I've also had the no backup camera bug that self fixed itself after a hour. I complained about that one to the dealership and was told Ram is aware of multiple issues with the 8.4nav and that there should be a fix coming in the spring via a software push.

Okay, so a follow up to my last log. Took the car into Dodge and they ran a diagnostics and did a reset. The employee at dodge had said everything came back normal, and these cars are too new to diagnose anything (which makes sense). After the reset from Dodge, the radio worked fine for a few weeks, then the audio went out again. I messed with the buttons on the back side of the steering wheel and the audio started working again - it's a quick fix to a frustrating problem.
Just when I thought I had a solution to this radio problem something new happened - while backing into a parking spot my radio was playing SXM at level 10 volume. Then out of no where the volume blared to the max blowing out my ear drums! I immediately lowered the volume, thinking that would fix the problem but no change in the sound, until the volume hit 0, where there was no sound. I thought maybe it was the radio station that had problems, so I changed the station and increased the volume to 1, and the audio sounded like it was maxed out!! In volume 1! I shut the car off and have yet to start it up again, as I'm out at dinner. Wondering if anyone else had this same problem?

Hi All,

Brand new 4 day old 2019 Ram 1500 and this happened to me today.

I remote started the truck, and noticed on a short 5 minute drive that I had no sound from sirius or bluetooth audio. Pressed the siri button and also heard no sound.

I realize there are some bugs on new generation vehicles but hopefully this is an easy software update they can release ina few months and squash all these uconnect bugs. It's a great system when it works

Forgot to add that 2 hours later I went out the driveway to test and the sound was back.

Just curious if you are having any backup camera issues. Mine did this exact thing (along with occasional backup camera blue screen) until I had the dealership replace my camera and harness. My truck was built in May 2018 and apparently the camera didn’t like moisture (one trip through a car wash triggered this problem on day 2 of ownership).

No backup camera problems yet (fingers crossed). More Info if it's helpful to the thread.

Sept 2018 Built Date
8.4 Nav system

Also I recall the "mute" indicator on the screen was flashing on and off. I also pushed the mute button several times and nothing happened. Zero sound at all. Volume knob responded and showed different volumes I was turning. It was definitely wigging out and a software thing, doubt it was a connection or antenna.

This sounds similar to what I have experienced a couple of times now. The first time I had unpaired my phone from the truck then paired it with the truck again. I received a call from my wife which shut off the music I was listening to this is of course normal. However, when I answered the call I could not hear her. Then when I hung up no sound came from the speakers. I tried SAT, Radio, and my iPod each of which were silent. I remembered reading a post on this forum that someone had this issue and fixed it by turning off the truck then starting it again. So I pulled over and tried this but it didn't work. I still had no sound. When I got home I disconnected the cable to the negative terminal of the battery and went inside to change. When I finished I went back out and reconnected the battery and started the truck. The issue was gone, I had sound for everything I had checked previously. I had an appointment scheduled with the dealer for the steering knock issue, which couldn't be duplicated at the dealer so they wouldn't fix it, and the light staying on in the upper glove compartment. So I mentioned this to the service advisor and he said that's the way they reset the system also.

That was two to three weeks ago. Yesterday when I got in the truck and started it I had no sound while playing my iPod. So again I pulled over and shut off the truck and restarted it. This of course didn't fix the issue. So when I got home I disconnected the negative terminal of the battery again and reconnected it about 20 min. later. The sound came back but I notice that my Controls icon was missing from my app tray. I tried to re-add it to the app tray but it did not show up on the apps screen either. So I drove back to work and disconnected the negative terminal again for about 20 to 30 min. and reconnected it. Nothing changed no Controls icon in the app tray and no Controls icon on the app screen.

I called Uconnect they went through the normal information gathering stuff they put you through. Then and after spending 15 min. on the phone with them describing what was wrong and having me do the soft reset process (I convinced this does nothing) they said I need to take it to the dealer so they can call the Uconnect specialist to diagnose the problem. At this point I shut the truck off and went back in. When I started the truck to go home the Controls app icon was back in the app tray. smh.

Sorry for the long post but maybe it will help someone somehow.
