Text messages and bluetooth

For some reason when mynohonenis connected via bluetooth, my text .messages wont appear, contacts and everything else download. I checked under my android setting and turned messages on under bluetooth, turned the car on and off and messages still don't show up, they always have in the past. Any ideas?
