I'm leaning towards the 275/60r20 Ridge Grappler XL's or Goodyear Wrangler UltraTerrain AT. The size, weight and price are what I'm looking for, however I can't find much info on them. For anyone running these tires how do you like them? How are they holding up? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, there is a lot of info on the LT versions of both of these tires, but the 115-116 load XL's seem to have no reviews.
I'm looking to go with the UltraTerrain 275 60 20 SL as well. I like the specs and the reviews I've seen are good. The severe winter rating is a must for me and the 16/32 tread depth is a plus for a non LT.

these are the top of my list too, as I dont want to go to a LT due to weight and harsh ride potential.
there a guy here running the 305-55-20 XL's and they fit well, commented the ride wasn't as plush as he'd hoped being a non-lt, but said it might be due to the level links on his air-ride equipped truck, making the suspension stiffer.

I went with the UltraTerrain 275 60 20 SL over the weekend. Put just under 200 miles on them driving home from the tire shop. The ride was very good and quite. The main reason for non LT or the duratrac or most other aggressive tires. They filled the wheel wells up pretty well IMO and gave a much better more aggressive stance to the truck. ORP, no other modifications to the suspension. MPG for the return trip was 18.4 on the dash and hand calculated to 18.38, cruise was set a 72mph by GPS. Register 68-69 on the speedo at that speed. The last pic showes the comparison of the 275 60 20 SL vs a 276 65 20 LT for reference. Happy with my decision.

Thank you for the write up! This is exactly the kind of info I have been looking for, keep us posted. Your truck looks great in those tires. Now if anyone with the Ridge Grappler XL's could chime in on their experience that would be great.

those look fantastic! great looking truck and great comparison with the 65 series side by side. doesn't see worth it for the harsher LT ride

From what I've seen on YouTube the ultraterrains can hold some rocks, but I can't imagine it's any worse than the stock tires.

While they are not XL, I am running the Nitto Ridge grapplers and LOVE them. I have 16k miles on them and they are very quiet and comfortable for me and my family. They ride slightly rougher than stock, but all AT tires will. I would buy these again and again.

They have a higher load rating and firmer sidewall than the XL, so I anticipate the XL being even smoother! :)

So my Tire shop called today, said they misspoke and that the ultra terrains are on backorder. I called 3-4 other tire shops locally and every dealer said tires were extremely understocked due to the pandemic. I guess tires were non essential and the manufacturers are just getting up and going again. Anyone else experience this recently, or is this just a regional displacement?

That's interesting, I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger on tires just yet so I haven't been working with any shops. I'm leaning towards the UltraTerrains as of now so I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you get them. I hope they stock up soon.

Love my Ridge Grapplers (275/65-18 XL). I'm not loading the truck down or towing heavy so the extra price and weight (10+ lbs per tire) of the E-rated weren't worth it to me.

They are the best off-road tires I've ever had on the road. Quiet, balance well, and aren't rough. It wasn't a ride change for me since my ORP came with C-rated tires (pretty much the same stiffness as XL tires...both 50psi max).

With any AT/MT/Hybrid tire they are going to pick up rocks due to the tread design.

Thanks for the info. I can tell this is going to be a very hard choice for me after all lol.

Tires will pick up rocks but you’re missing the point of my question. Do the ultra terrain’s “hold”rocks.
An example is the Yokohama G015 is a great tire but if you drive through gravel the tread will try and hang on to every little pebble it can and they stay stuck in the tread. Falken AT3W tires are the opposite, very rarely did I notice a chunk of gravel stuck in the tread. Maxxis Razr MTs actually throw the gravel to the side instead of up as it sheds rocks.

MT and hybrid tires are less likely to hold onto gravel because their tread design has wider voids to shed mud and rocks. AT’s vary greatly in tread design. Some are more aggressive and some are closer to a highway tire.

So after talking to a few more tire shops yesterday, I guess there are tires available in 275/60/20 just not the Ultra Terrain's. I can get KO2's, G2's, Ridge Grappler's, but supposedly Goodyear is still quite behind in their manufacturing rebound. Even the online tire retailers say the Ultra's are currently out of stock or unavailable. I need tires, these OEM's have 32k on them and the outside edges are considerably worn which has been discussed in other threads, even though I am fairly religious about rotating every 10k. I guess my new dilemma is wait for an unspecified time to get the GY Ultra's or bite the bullet & get a competitor now. Decisions, Decisions.
